Let's dance! After climbing up to #sharppeak - one of the toughest hikes in #hongkong - I decided to dance and stretch. Even though this dancer poser doesn't look too open - given the almost vertical ascent we did (the bit just in front of my face), I was surprised I could still grab my foot 😇.

While this pose doesn't need much explanation, one of the most important things is to start with the buttocks as close to the wall as you can. You can use a #yogawheel like I do, or use a bolster, or a firm pillow. And if you have none of that, roll up a yoga mat and put it under your sacrum. The other thing is that you focus on your breathing and relaxing. This pose is particularly great for relaxing tired feet and legs and a perfect alternative for #shoulderstand, and is a perfect pose for pregnant yoginis.

Day 13 of #hkyogachallenge. So comfortable I can sleep in this pose... In case you haven't noticed, I love the splits! This is particularly a useful way to stretch the inner thighs, otherwise known as the abductor of the legs. While it is important that we know how to hug the legs in to engage the #pelvicfloor or #mulabandha, it is equally important to know how to stretch and relax the legs the other direction.

Start with the legs wide against the wall with the hands behind your buttocks. Roll the shoulders back and push the finger tips down, which helps lengthening the spine. In each exhale, widen the feet and walk the hips closer to the wall. Using the finger tips behind your butt for support and stability - and they can also keep the spine long and tall. With lots of practice, one day, the hips will touch the wall...
