finally got to try littlebao for the first time! little bao serves fusion burgers with an oriental twist.
For appetizer, we order the seaweed poppers- ie. cuttle fish balls covered with crunchy seaweed. Not sure if anyone has ever tried the dimsum “seaweed seafood roll” before (it’s my childhood favourite!!!), but basically the seaweed popper is a modern twist of that.
We ordered the signature Pork Belly Bar as the main dish.
The white baos, to our surprise, are very soft and fluffy. The pork belly is very tender (but not too fatty) with the right ratio of fat and meat layers. It is cleverly seasoned with chinese sweet sauce (hoisin ketchup) so the overall presentation is really good! It’s like a luxurious version of pork baos from the chinese tea restaurants.
Tbh the portions are a bit small, so we decided to order BOTH flavours of ice cream baos. It turned out to be surprisingly good! BEST OF THE MEAL! The bao is deep-fried to a golden brown, so it is crunchy on the outside- simply a more delicious version of golden mantou (炸饅頭). The hot golden bao and the cold ice cream also makes a nice symphony of contrast inside your oral cavity. Make sure to eat it soon before it melts!
Overall I would say it’s a nice and special dining experience at little bao with all the “chinese burgers”, the only drawback would be the small portions. Luckily we were quite full (after drinking boba milk tea) that day so the portions were just right for us. Can’t wait to try other combinations of baos in the near future!
