【蚊患季節】誰想一到夏天就化身「人肉捕蚊燈」?

夏天來臨的徵兆是甚麼?惹蚊的人流著淚衝出來搶答:被蚊叮!夏天是蚊患肆虐的季節,有些人就是天生惹蚊,有人笑說最好的防蚊方法,就是站在最惹蚊的朋友旁邊,這樣就確保自己不會有蚊叮了!
從中醫角度來看,哪種體質的人最惹蚊呢?蚊子偏愛體溫偏高、體味重、多汗、汗味重的人,所以濕熱體質的人特別惹蚊。而陰虛內熱體質的人體溫亦比較高,他們都有面部烘熱、手腳心胸口煩熱及潮熱盜汗的症狀,所以亦容易惹來蚊子「親吻」。
想避免蚊叮,除了使用防蚊產品例如蚊怕水、防蚊手帶外,建議從根本改善體質,濕熱體質人士要清熱祛濕,多食用具清熱祛濕功效的食物例如生薏米、綠豆、赤小豆、土茯苓、冬瓜等,或者飲用好熱氣茶療調理體質;而陰虛體質人士就要忌晚睡熬夜,多進食滋陰潤燥食物例如雪耳、百合、雪梨、蜂蜜等,飲用乾噌噌茶療亦有助清熱滋陰。如果到戶外多蚊地方,不妨自製中藥防蚊香包隨身攜帶,到藥材舖照單執藥,然後用紗布或魚湯袋包起綁好即可使用。
DIY中藥防蚊香包
材料:香茅、大茴香、小茴香、橘子皮、薄荷、石菖蒲各10克
做法:將以上材料弄碎,並放進紗布包裡。要注意香包內的藥材氣味若減淡,須換上新的藥材才能發揮功效。
✔推介茶療:好熱氣
功效:清熱解毒。紓緩口臭、多眼垢、目赤眼乾、煩躁易怒、小便短赤或偏黃等症狀。
材料:雞蛋花、胎菊、雞骨草
注意:孕婦需配合體質服用。

功效:潤燥止血,紓緩鼻腔、咽喉乾燥、反覆流鼻血等症狀。
材料:白茅根、玉竹、梨乾

Damp heat bodies may attract mosquitoes
Mosquitoes are most active during summer. Some people seem to always get bitten by mosquitoes. Some people joke that the best way to prevent mosquito bites is to stand next to people who get bitten easily.
From Chinese medicine perspective, which body conditions are prone to mosquito bites? Mosquitoes prefer people with high body temperature, body odor, excessive sweating, smelly sweat. People with damp-heat body type are particularly prone to get bitten by mosquitoes. Body temperature of people with yin deficiency and internal heat body type are relatively high. They all have symptoms of flushed cheeks with hot flashes, feeling of irritating heat in palms of hand, bridge of feet, and chest.
To avoid mosquito bites, in addition to using anti-mosquito products such as mosquito repellent or anti mosquito bracelet, it is recommended to improve your body condition. People with damp-heat body condition should clear heat and dispel dampness and eat more ingredients such as raw coix seed, mung bean, rice bean, smilax, winter melon, and try the ‘Very Hot (Qi)’ healing tea to condition the body. People with yin deficiency body type should avoid sleeping late and staying up late, eat more ingredients that can nourish yin and relieve dryness such as snow fungus, lily bulb, pear, honey, etc. Drinking ‘Very Dry’ healing tea can also help clear heat and nourish yin. If you go to an outdoor area with many mosquitoes, you can carry a DIY Chinese medicine herbs insect repellent. You can get the herbs from Chinese medicine store, and place into gauze bag or fish soup bag then tie up to use.
DIY Chinese medicine herbs insect repellent
Ingredients: 10g each of lemongrass, star anise, cumin, orange peel, mint, sweet flag grass
Preparation: crush all ingredients and place into gauze bag. Note when the aroma starts to decrease, you should replace with new to ensure its effectiveness.
✔Recommendation: ‘Very Hot (Qi)’ healing tea
Effects: clears heat and detoxifies, can relieve bad breath, frequent eye discharge, red and dry eyes, frequent loss of temper, scanty or yellowish urine.
Ingredients: Plumeria, chrysanthemum buds, Chinese prayer bead grass
Note: Pregnant women should consume based on body constitution.
✔Recommendation: ‘Very Dry’ healing tea
Effects: relieves dryness and stops bleeding, can relieve dryness in nasal cavity and throat, frequent nosebleeds.
Ingredients: Cogongrass root, polygonatum, odoratum, dried pear

吃對湯圓賀元宵
轉眼又到正月十五元宵節,傳統習俗會品嚐湯圓,寓意團團圓圓。從中醫角度來看,湯圓甜膩,容易生濕,而且糯米性質黏滯滋膩,難以消化,不宜過量食用以免滯氣引起胃脹。要應節,宜淺嚐,享用時亦不妨配合自己體質,配搭合適的糖水,美味之餘同時又滋潤養生。
手腳冰冷人 — 薑湯片糖湯圓
生薑屬性偏熱,能發汗散寒,片糖有暖胃功效,最適合陽虛、偏寒體質人士食用,改善怕冷、手腳冰冷的症狀。
面青唇白人 — 紅豆沙湯圓
紅豆具補血和胃功效,最適合血虛人士,有助改善氣血虛弱的情況。
暗瘡口臭人 — 綠豆沙湯圓
綠豆有清熱解毒、消暑祛濕功效,適合濕熱體質人士,紓緩暗瘡和口臭等因濕熱產生的症狀。
大便乾硬/早生華髮人 — 芝麻糊湯圓
芝麻有益肝腎、養血烏髮、潤腸通便功效,有助紓緩大便乾硬、白髮等症狀。
Sweet dumplings for Lantern Festival
Today is Lantern Festival. Traditional customs usually involves eating sweet dumplings to represent reunion. From Chinese medicine perspective, sweet dumplings are sweet and greasy, and can easily lead to stagnated dampness. Also, glutinous rice is sticky and heavy, which makes it more difficult to digest so do not eat too much of it as that can lead to abdominal bloating. You can eat sweet dumplings in moderation to celebrate the festival. You can choose dessert soup according to your body type.
Those with cold limbs- Sweet dumplings with ginger soup with slab sugar
Ginger is hot in nature, can promote perspiration and dispel cold. Slab sugar can warm the stomach, especially suitable for those with yang deficiency and cold-related body types. It can improve symptoms such as aversion to cold and cold limbs.
Those with pale complexion and lip color- Sweet dumplings with red bean paste
Red bean can replenish blood and stomach. Suitable for those with blood deficiency. It can improve qi and deficiency.

Tian Yuan Dessert is probably one of the few places that you can find sweet treats in Pearl City (Simpang Ampat). The place serves some really classic home-cooked Chinese sweet soups, like the familiar Red Bean Soup, Bee Koh Moi, Bubur Cha Cha, Barley Fu-Chok etc, with a few cold choices of Longan Tofu, Mango Sago Pudding etc. It does not has a lot to offer but just a few solid selections. Not bad for a quick fix but unlikely a place that I would drive all the way there just to have a bowl of sweet soup.
