If you were a student in the 80s and 90s, you probably remember singing “We are Singapore” with your classmates and friends in school. The song has remained a favourite at National Day Parades over the years. So this year’s organisers decided to adapt the 1987 classic and make it the #NDP18 theme song.

Homegrown artiste Charlie Lim wrote a new introduction to the song. Coming from the new generation, his feelings for our home, Singapore, are just as strong.

This video takes a look at the story behind the original song, and how a new generation of writers and singers have interpreted its themes. The song was inspired by Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s 1966 speech and is best remembered for incorporating our National Pledge in it.

Lions Club of Damansara Metro (www.fb.com/DamansaraMetro) has recently soft-launched its M.A.D (Make a Difference) Album in Busan, South Korea during the Leo-Lions Summit in-conjunction with the International Lions Convention in June 2012. International President Dr. Wing-Kun Tam, received the album after one of the songs, WE BELIEVE, was sung by Zenny Salihuddin as a tribute song from LCI Youth to him and his dedicated work throughout the fiscal year!The album consists of 6 songs, works of Rafikoncept, Akarkarya & KRU Music Productions! All original compositions or lyrics by Lion Alan Thoo himself, performed by Leos and celebrity friends, the album also consists of the popular I PLEDGE song, theme song of District 308B2 Leo Clubs in 2009-2010, also used by Leos in Singapore, Sri Lanka etc... Not forgetting the theme song for our district's 40th Year LEO anniversary, a song written by Gary Chaw (曹格) and Lion Alan, Stronger than Before... and other tracks too. The title track, Make a Difference, is a brand new track and the Music Video is ready for launch in mid July! The song was performed by Zoey Phoon, Mero, Liyana, Phoebe, Natasha & Zenny!!The album will be sold on ground events in Malaysia at RM25.00each, and online at RM29.90... all available in Mid July.. in aid of National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia!
