PERLU BUAT SEBELUM 30 TAHUN
1. Perbaiki bacaan al-Quran
Sebelum masuk usia 30 tahun, kita sudah boleh fikir-fikirkan balik bacaan al-Quran kita. Apakah sudah lancar ataupun belum? Sudah khatam ataupun tidak?
...Continue ReadingGotta do it before 30 years
1. Improve the Quran recitation
Before turning 30, we can already think about our Quran reading. Has it been smooth or not? Have you been khatam or not?
Until when are we going to be forced to read the Quran? We're not kids anymore to be told.
So, look for any Quran teacher who can help us. Hopefully we can also be the priests and teachers of the Quran for our couples and children. Let them be able to read the Quran with our hands.
2. Remove negative attitude
This is the important thing because our behavior will be a role model for children. Moreover it will determine the mood of our household atmosphere.
I understand, young blood is still hot flowing inside. But if possible, before the 30 s we train ourselves to leave out abusive speech and writings. Fear of hardship when it becomes a habit.
It's worse if the kids get tempered. Moreover when hot angry and stubborn. It's the same as the type of night must hang out and hang out for hours outside with friends.
Don 't... don' t... no...
Sometimes it's okay. But if everyday, don't.
3. Ways we are on social media
It's not just our personal that needs to be fixed, but the way we social media is also the same. Ensure that our sharing posts, let our pictures be useful. Nothing makes us embarrassed later.
Not what, I always imagined if our young pictures dressed in eyes, or our pictures are showing disrespectful gestures being seen by our children growing up and they're copying... think we can accept it or not?
After all this is the phase of maturity.
We are on our way to leave young age to adult. We are not young forever.
4. Become the foot of the mosque and the foot of the
In the end of the 20 s if mosque / surau is always visited, thank you so much. It means we are in a good atmosphere, insya-Allah.
Because of that time, we're in the right place and hanging out with the right friends. If we're stressful or ' too much ' in action, insyaAllah there will be friends who advise.
Should be, the 30 s later there will be no problem going to mosque / surau. There is no more shame if people call us mosque gang.
No more whispers of heart, you're still young... enjoy first.
It's been 30 years, where is the youth.
5. Get used to circumcision practices
Every consistent practice starts with 'training ups' until it becomes a habit.
So, circumcision prayers, fasting fasting and circumcision practices can be practiced early. In order not to feel burdened.
It's nothing, the old people said they are looking at it.
After all, the circumcision is the one who will accommodate the lompong in the fardu.
6. Upgrade religious knowledge
This phase 30 s to 40 s is a hard phase. Running phase is not enough land. Everything wants to be chased. Knowledge, career, children. Short words all. Huhu
Because we're always married at that age, there's already a few children, the commitment is increasing. Plus the career is increasingly highlights, but the spirit and energy are not like young people anymore.
So if that's the time we're all going to walk together, the feeling is very burdened.
Moreover this religious knowledge is not for us who are practical, but for family too. So, prepare the supply of this religious knowledge since single and young. Our thoughts are still fresh and still free.
The early we start, the better. Because we get ready early, practice early.
So the conclusion, all of these must be done now, need to be planned and trained... not after the 30 s.
Also in personal financial management issues. Don't wait to get married, just planning.
Planning our financial management and retirement since we were single. Invest some of our money for financial management knowledge through the purchase of books or ebooks.
While we're still single or maybe just one's child, we have to work this way. Because of this time we still have free times, commitment is still lacking.
So start now. Don't fight.
Because the concept the faster we act, the easier to change. If all of these were done before the 30 s, it would be the best.
Okay?
Hopefully. Praying a lot.

Delighted to host a dinner to celebrate Mr Ong Pang Boon’s 90th birthday last night in Parliament House. This is also an anniversary year – the 65th of the PAP’s founding, the 60th of the first PAP Government in 1959, and the Singapore Bicentennial. It was a special occasion to celebrate those who have sacrificed and contributed to making Singapore what it is today.
I have been privileged to have known Mr Ong since I was a little boy. He was then the PAP’s Organising Secretary. One of my childhood memories is being brought by my father one afternoon to the PAP headquarters, then at South Bridge Road, when I was about five or six years old, during the late 1950s. I remember Mr Ong was busy going through the records of the party members, and opened a file to show me my father’s record.
As the PAP’s first paid full-time employee, Mr Ong was in charge of almost everything – party membership registration, correspondence with the branches, party members and public, and publication of Petir, the party newsletter. But Mr Ong was much more than an administrator. He played a crucial role bridging the non-Communist PAP leaders, who were mostly English educated, with the Chinese-speaking masses. Mr Ong helped amplify the messages that the leadership wanted to convey, and contributed much to the PAP’s strong victory in the 1959 Legislative Assembly elections, which brought the PAP into power for the first time.
Mr Ong was only 30 when he first became a minister. He held key portfolios – Home Affairs (1959-63), then Education (1963-1970), Labour (1970-1980) and Environment (1980-1984). In 1965, Mr Ong was one of the 10 Singapore signatories who signed the Separation Agreement. As Minister of Education, Mr Ong introduced flag raising ceremonies in schools, and the daily recitation of what later became the National Pledge.
You probably know that Mr Rajaratnam drafted the English pledge, but you may not know it was Mr Ong who had come up with the idea of a loyalty pledge to be taken by students, to inculcate national consciousness and patriotism. He wrote to Raja to explain this, and sent some initial drafts of the pledge by MOE staff to seek Raja’s comments and amendments. Raja then worked on it, and proposed a version which Mr Lee Kuan Yew subsequently amended to become the English pledge we have today. After the English text was settled, Mr Ong then personally amended the Chinese translation to produce the final Chinese version of the pledge. And so on 24 August 1966, schoolchildren all over Singapore, including myself, recited the Pledge for the first time before the national flag. Since then, generations of young Singaporeans have learnt the pledge by heart, and internalised what it means to be Singaporean. What started as a loyalty pledge for schoolchildren has now become the National Pledge for all Singaporeans.
In a long lifetime, Mr Ong has witnessed first-hand how Singapore progressed from Third World to First. As one of our founding generation of leaders, Mr Ong participated in the big events surrounding our country’s birth. His contributions, and indeed those of the First Generation, must never be forgotten.
On behalf of all of us, Mr Ong, thank you for your years of dedicated service to the PAP, and for your many contributions to Singapore. Happy Birthday Mr Ong! Here's wishing you many more healthy and fruitful years ahead.

【你問我答Round 1】Part 1/3
My last Feng Shui workshop was in January. Since then, I had been laden with never-ending work.
It struck my mind that it has been a long time, since I go to the ground and interact with more people, apart from my occasional Lives and writings. My Grandmaster, Living Buddha Lian Sheng, does it every week. So does my Shifu. Hence, I decided to do a AMA, Ask Me Anything, in my previous post.

【生命最後的救度】
QUESTION 1: from Joan Toh-Lau
"Is there something small and simple to do everyday, to create merit that can be dedicated to someone else? Just thinking of someone who is at their end stage of life. May all beings be well, healthy and happy. Thank you for wanting to help all of us here with questions."
My answer:
For a dying person, repentance is key.
We spend a good deal of our lives planning how to live it up, and feeling deprived and dissatisfied when we don't. Only a few wise ones will live their lives according to how they want to die and where they want to go, after their time on Earth is up.
Nobody can say they live a life where they have done nothing wrong: Killing, Stealing, Sexual Misconduct, False Speech and Consumption of Intoxicants.
Repentance done from the heart will eradicate the sins we have committed from this and past lifetimes.
人,有業障,才會六道輪迴。懺悔才免業來攻。
Repentance enables the patient to die as pain-free and graceful as possible, and accumulates as much positive resources as possible for his rebirth to the Pureland, or at the very least, a more worthy reincarnation in a good family.
If the person has a lot of merits, and a lot of negative karma at the same time, the heavy blockades of negative karma can obstruct the merits from coming to fruition.
A person who does not believe in repentance will never receive the blessings of Buddha, or any virtuous god for that matter.
Of course it is best done by the person himself/herself. But the more people helping the dying, the better.
[Step 1: 懺悔偈 (Short Repentance Verse) in Buddhism ]
我昔所做諸罪業,皆有無始貪嗔癡,
從身語意之所生,一切李季謙今皆懺悔。
The 我 can be replaced by the person's name, when you are doing it on the patient's behalf.
e.g. 李季謙昔所做諸罪業,皆有無始貪嗔癡,
從身語意之所生,一切我今皆懺悔。
Recite 3 times.
.
[Step 2: Supplement it with recitation of Buddha's or Bodhisattva's name or mantra. ]
e.g. 南無阿彌陀佛、南無觀世音菩薩、南無藥師琉璃光王佛 or 南無地藏王菩薩
21 times, 49 times or 108 times daily.
You can also choose to add on a recitation of a sutra.
.
[Step 3: Dedicate the merits to the dying.]
e.g.
我,XXX,願以此功德迴向給我的父親,XXX(姓名),生於19XX年XX月XX日,目前住在......。祈願他能業消福增、減少病苦、將來壽終正寢、蒙佛接引、往生淨土。
.
In《地藏王菩薩本願經》The Sutra of the Fundamental Vows of Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva, it clearly states that the person reciting it gains 70% of the merits, the recipient of the dedication gains 30% of the merits.
This is definitely a win-win solution.
There are of course other ways of generating merits like donations, sponsorships of temple-building, printing of virtuous books, giving away free medicine etc.
I consider this the most effective and simplest solution to Joan's question. Something that can be done daily. I have already simplified the repentance process. A more elaborate one will be more thorough and naturally eradicate more negative karma within a shorter period of time.
It's free. Small in effort needed, but big in power when done consistently with a sincere heart and steadfast belief. Even more powerful if you have taken refuge.
Please remember not to do your recitation in the bedroom. You can do it in your living room, study room, or in front of your altar, with your chanting beads.
If there is any merits from this writing, I dedicate it to your dying "someone".
May he or she be free from fear and pain.
May he or she let go of the attachments to this mortal world and be reborn in the Pureland. 🙏
Thank you for your belief in me to ask me this question, Joan.
