Covid-19 has changed the way on how teachers and parents can work together in order to benefit the kids.
Honestly, I feel being a teacher is not an easy job, especially during this period. The teachers and the school have connected with us using the Parent Portal app and just recently, My First Skool came up with Discovery Day! If you have read my previous post, it's the Largest Online Preschool Learning Convention in Singapore.
I signed up for the workshop – “A Guide to Your Child Social and Emotional Learning” presented by teachers of MFS. A key takeaway from this session is about teaching the child’s basic skills like cooperation, following directions, demonstrating self-control and paying attention. The teachers also taught us how we can identify the child’s feelings in a home and school setting, and all these are key to helping our child to learn how to control their emotions
To complement the workshop, I’ve also attended webinar session by Ms Thian Ai Ling’s (General Manager, My First Skool) on “Let’s watch and wait” where they provide children with the opportunity to experience different social situations and allowing them to attempt to work out how to manage the situation themselves such as negotiating for a toy etc. This helps to develop the children’s cognitive as well as social and emotional development.

The virtual event also gave us a glimpse into MFS curriculum and knowing that our children are taught well in school. I’m glad that I have made the right choice to enrol Didi with MFS.
