After my workout. One guy actually came to me and asked what's my secret to achieving this body.
My answer:
- Weight training x 5 per week
- Other activities x 3-5 per week
- High Protein and Fibers, Moderate Carbs and Fats
- Estimated calorie in-out (will be more strict when I choose to be super ripped).
☝️All of this x many, many years!
He seems upset, and not really pleased with my answers... Erm, maybe he is expecting a different kind of answer. You know that "ONE magical weird method that I secretly use to achieve this physique" answer.
Unfortunately. No!
The truth is, when it comes to achieving a body like this, it is all about the basics. Resistance training > Cardio (if necessary) > and a Balanced Diet. Nothing fancy!
But if you force me to spill out ONE secret that really works for me? My answer would be "Consistency", and here you go another shot of disappointment. #noimnotonsteroidsbutthanksforasking

My secret for this physique.

The truth is my fitness life isn't all about that six pack abs cutting and those fat burning tabata workouts.
.
In fact, 80% of my training are made in the gym, where the other 20% is bodyweight and cardio that helps me to sustain my endurance, and extra calorie burn for me to stay ripped.
.
To be honest, without gym training and without undergoing any "Bulk" phase in my fitness regime, I can say it is almost impossible for me to maintain/grow this steroid-like physique (#noimnotonsteroidsbutthanksforasking), because as a typical chinese, we are genetically "small" *sad*.

So here's how it work.

I will "Bulk" my body about 1-2 times in a year. This is where I'll bump up my calories intake for greater muscle growth and overall recovery.

I would normally do my Bulk during early of the year (winter and big festive season), and the other best time for me to Bulk is around my birthday time (Aug), because without much effort these seasons are the time we will indulge more food.

My gym routine pretty consistent. I train pretty much everything from @theironmastery. Whether I'm Cutting or Bulking, I will always challenge myself to train as heavy as I could without breaking my lifting form. Except I'll do higher volume when I'm on a Bulk compare to other times, thanks to higher calorie consumption.

Cardio wise. I will still do cardio like 2-3 times a week. This keeps me productive, and it helps to me to stay lean during my Bulk (take note that it's common gain some fat when you are Bulking). I can easily make a come back to that "ripped" mode without undergoing some extreme Cutting program that will put my body in a risk of losing too much of muscles... And that's why I'm always lean 365.
