Time to go back to trail running!
A PROJECT CLOSE TO THE HEART :-
MMTF will always be something close to my heart. It’s a dream that came about during the race briefing of the then TNF Australia 2015. A race I completed after having to walk fr 20KM onwards owing to ITB which hold me back for some 10 months back then. The RD said that wld be the last of TNF Australia before they enhanced their platform to Ultra Trail Australia or Australia Ultra Trail Festival as he puts it. A a moment my eyes blinked and I knw we shld do 1 in Malaysia as well.
I always envisage having everyone running the trails I called home for many weekends in my preparation for races in and out of Malaysia. It ran through my mind, how the elites aka fast legs wld take them and same applies to everyone else who tried it on the 1st edition last year.
I learnt in the process. I see people more and I experienced human in the good and bad light but I m honored to have these experiences. (It’s bcos I heard the 50KM runners this year will be travelling fr CP Angkasa - Burmese VIA road leaving the CP Angkasa - Burmese trail sections for the 84KM runners which will be further improved with some switch backs. This is with hope we have less traffic in the trails on that section and make the 50KM and 84KM more competitive races over all.
I wish and pray sincerely that many of us with experiences, passion and the capabilities wld want come out work together for the growth of this very niche but fast growing sports here in Malaysia over and above personal glorification or interest. It’s an almost impossible task but I like to see there’s a chance.
I pray as humans grow the sports will similarly grow further in this country and that we are able produce some regional or world beaters in the field for we do really have the talents in every distance category.
So why MMTF. I have deep passion for running (a sports I was actively involved and excelled in between 13-17 years of age only to be back doing it again when I m 37 after getting too busy with life in between) and I love the deep sense of peace I have when I m in the trails. The deeper I go i get more engrossed to the fact that I m free that it’s me and God’s creation and the fact that not everything is within my control like how the world is.
MMTF might travel places but for now Taiping is the choice and over the long run I hope to be able to gather enough resources to create a set of public trails via the routes we used for MMTF with hope it does not only create job opportunities for the locals who shares the same passion but most importantly allowing us to maintain and conserve the nature in a much better way which if not will be left depleted to the horror of our next generation.

To achieve over and beyond 1000++ registered runners for 2nd year running speaks about the support without which and whom I m nothing.
This is not a short term project as the well maintained trails as seen in countries like HKG, Australia and EU does not come about overnight.
