Simplicity at its finest - oil-free, egg-free, milk-free, and sugar-free sourdough bread 😋

Purple sweet potatoes and dried cranberries added a hint of sweetness to balance the sourness of the sourdough bread. A sweet and sour taste to kick off the morning with a floral cold brew 🥰

Sourdough bread has become quite popular lately, but it has been around for thousands of years. It is the oldest type of leavened bread. Instead of using baker’s yeast, it requires a starter, which is a mixture of water and flour that develops into wild yeast. This yeast produces lactic acid, which is the source of sourdough bread’s distinctive tangy taste.

How to Have Peace with God?
“And this is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which he shall offer unto the Lord. If he offer it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and cakes mingled with oil, of fine flour, fried. Besides the cakes, he shall offer for his offering leavened bread with the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace offerings.” (Leviticus 7:11-13 KJV)
How do we have peace with God?
Is it by trying hard not to sin so that He won’t be angry with us?
Let’s study the peace offering and what it represents.
There are three unleavened food items and one leavened food item in this offering.
In the Bible, leaven is a picture of sin.
Therefore, the leavened bread is a picture of us. We were sinners who needed saving.
The unleavened cakes mingled with oil, unleavened wafers anointed with oil and fried cakes of fine flour mingled with oil are all pictured of Jesus Christ at different stages of His life on earth.
Oil is a picture of the Holy Spirit.
At conception, the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary and caused Jesus to be conceived as a human baby. This is represented by the unleavened cakes mingled with oil.
Unleavened because Jesus is sinless. Notice that all three food items that represent Him are unleavened—He is always sinless.
At the river Jordan, when Jesus was baptized at age thirty, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and rested upon Him.
Then for three and a half years, Jesus went about doing good and healing all in the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit.
This is represented by the unleavened wafers anointed (applied upon) with oil.
Finally, when Jesus hung on the cross, the fiery wrath of God was poured out upon Him because as judgment for the sins of the world. This is represented by the fried cakes of fine flour mingled with oil.
Even at the cross, when God the Father had to judge Jesus as if He were the most wicked sinner in existence (He was carrying all our sins), Jesus was never more pleasing to the Father.
Even though He was fried, He exuded fragrance like cakes of fine flour mingled with oil. He was carrying our sins upon Him, but those sins didn’t go into His spirit. He was still pure like fine flour.
You and I, the leavened bread, received God’s righteousness as a gift, while Jesus, the unleavened cake, received our sins and was judged in our place.
Dear brethren, you have peace with God not because of your works, but because God was born as a Man, anointed by the Holy Spirit and completed His work of dying as the ultimate atoning sacrifice for your sins.
He was then raised from the dead and is now seated with the Father, far above all principalities and powers, never to die again.
This is the reason why peace offerings are for thanksgiving. We will forever give thanks to the Lamb of God, who took away the sins of the world!

Finishing off my documentation of @dear.coffee.bakery in #TaiWai. The breads here are freshly handmade from scratch daily by the owner👩🏻🍳 They offer around 4 choices of bread everyday, but the menu changes once per week, so every visit is special and unique!🤩 Shop is not large, and due to the Coronavirus, seat availability is even more limited. Make sure you know what you’re lining up for, since there’s a line for dine-in and another for takeouts.
Here are the names from left to right. Their mochi products are super famous😍 Despite the constant menu updates, they never fail to include at least one item with mochi in the mix!
Earl Grey Bagel with Mochi ($40HKD) Asian bagels are different from typical bagels becuz these are somehow chewier🥯 With the addition of mochi inside, my jaws almost fell apart from chewing😂 Also loved how the bagels looked super tall and pillowy!
Jasmine Green Tea Bagel with Red Bean ($45HKD) The gentle touch of jasmine was fragrant and nice, nothing artificial here. Btw, it was after the meal that I realized that both of the bagels were Vegan?!🌱 What?! These are probably the best vegan, leavened baked goods I’ve ever had🤯
Uji #Matcha Roll with Kinako Paste ($38HKD) Matcha bread with Kinako rolled in btwn the layers, then finished off with matcha spread🍵

Roti is generally a South Asian bread made from stoneground wholemeal flour, traditionally known as atta flour, that originated and is consumed in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. It is also consumed in parts of the Southern Caribbean, particularly in Guyana and Suriname. Its defining characteristic is that it is unleavened. Indian naan bread, by contrast, is a yeast-leavened bread. Roti is sometimes referred to as "Kolcha" in Indian cuisine, albeit this term is seldom used outside of the Indian subcontinent.
