過年是立定新一年目標的時候,該讀點勵志的書籍,例如關於運動。你心目中的超級馬拉松選手長什麼樣子呢?
”Lean into discomfort, embrace the suck"
(正面迎向不舒適,擁抱鍛鍊的痛苦)
本書作者是一名在美國中學西班牙文的老師,同時也帶領學校的音樂和跨國交流社團。她是個中年黑人女性,體重超過100公斤,但是在馬拉松比賽裡可以痛電正常體型的一般人。她的故事在國家地理雜誌也有報導。
她從小的成長過程讓她熱愛學習,中學時甚至喜愛戶外體能運動,但還是有因著體型被霸凌的經驗。成家立業後,因著生活的壓力體重狂飆到150+公斤,一次疑似心臟病發作,讓她不得不正式自己的健康問題。從一開始跑一下就氣喘如牛,到挑戰自己跑越來越多,跑半馬,跑全馬,然後被朋友慫恿參加超級馬拉松,並且從此樂此不疲。
在過程中她開始了 “Fat Girl Running" (“胖妞跑步誌”)分享她的經歷,也引發很多的共鳴和追隨者。其實,她在任何一場比賽中都不是成績優異的,甚至有時是介於 “跑得慢和走得快”的那一群,但挑戰自己,打破刻板印象的框架才是重要的。當然,寫出來就更讓她有動力完成一次又一次的挑戰
超級馬拉松的路程在她的敘述中真的很不容易,她也很誠實講到第一次訓練她差點是最後一名 (她一心想著“老娘很慢但絕不是最後一名!”),講到跑者之間互相幫助的一些默契和陌生人相互鼓勵所帶來的正能量。
讀完了真覺得不管是什麼目標,just do it! 了解自己並設定可以持之以恆的方法,然後,一直重覆到成了生活習慣的一部分,不用跟別人比較,不過或許像作者一般,先公開跟親友們“放話”,可能也有督促自己的效果喔~😄

Too many people try to get too lean too early. If you don't have much muscle mass the amount you need to cut your calories to in order to get a very lean physique is really not very sustainable. 以我習慣過去騎四缸600c.c.的經驗,我真的沒料到675R這樣就會滑出去,誤以為輪胎可以負荷。希望我的錯誤經驗能多少給大家一點參考。我人沒事,幾片瘀青無大礙。Based on my previous inline 4 600c.c. riding experience, I honestly did not expect the the rear would give out so quickly given the throttle input on this triple cylinder 675R. Although I wasn't abrupt with my input I still accelerated too early with too much lean. Lesson learned. Hopefully you can learn from my mistake.
