HAPPY NYE!!!!
A few sparkler safety tips as you head out (or stay in!) for your celebrations tonight 🎉❤️👯:
1. Always have a bucket of water that the children can fully put out and cool down their sparkler rods in.
2. Long sleeves and covered shoes!
3. Use a large plastic cup (or cut up a large mineral water bottle and fold down the edges to make them blunt) as a shield for their little hands - make sure the lit end doesn't touch the cup.
4. Well-ventilated area with lots of open space and everyone spread out (at least 6 ft apart around). The rods burn extremely hot esp after when kids don't "see" the danger.
5. Only one sparkler at a time.
6. Clearly and firmly explain simply and easily what it is and the rules of handling it BEFORE lighting. We always go with the 3 rule - sparklers out in front at arm's length, only hold by the handle, no running/jumping w it.
You know your child best and if they are old enough to handle a sparkler even under close supervision. A good alternative is to let them play with pop-pop or glittery pipe cleaners that you can shape into pretend sparklers for very little ones.
Have fun and have a happy happy New Year!!! <3
