Seeing the President of Taiwan in St. Kitts, a Caribbean country where I lived for 4-5 years as a kid, has a king of “the story’s come full circle” kind of feeling.
The whole reason I live in Taiwan is because of my experience on that island. Since I learned French for 4 years there, when I moved back to the Us for high school and couldn’t learn any new French, I began asking my Taiwanese classmate to teach me Chinese. Who knew back then that I’d come to live here for so long?
