Following my single “Brave,” “I Believe” is a song encouraging all of us to believe in love whether we are “self-partnered” or in a relationship. I hope that no matter the pains and hurts we may have all experienced in our lives, we will never lose the courage to love and be loved, because we all deserve love and we are all WORTH IT. I always hold on to the hope and belief that happiness will come if we let it, and sometimes we just need to believe, be brave and take initiative in pursuit of our own happiness. Because the truth is, we never really know until we try!! Right???! 🙂
I felt very emotional while recording this song, because I grew up in a single-parent family and was often bullied at school, so I felt a strong sense of connection to the heroine in the TV drama this song is in. In the drama, the female lead is born unexpectedly and unwanted into the world. Abandoned as a baby, she lives a life of consistent abandonment and loneliness, resulting in a lack of security and loss of trust for all those around her. And because of her fear of loss, she chooses instead to shut herself off from the rest of the world and live in her own cave, avoiding any close or intimate connection/relationships with others until she meets the male lead, who slowly opens her heart and helps her realize her value as a woman who is worthy of love and of being loved.
