Extremely proud of you my darling sister Ranmeet Jassal. ❤️❤️
Often times we take things for granted too easily and we don't realize how lucky we truly are. If you can in any way make a difference to anyone in need, please, help them, without expecting anything in return.
Here's to humanity.
God bless. Lots of love ❤️❤️
Izmir , turkey 2016
So 2 days before my flight to Turkey there was a horrifying bomb blast at the arrivals and departure area at the Istanbul International Airport, killing 38 and injuring 140 people. My parents , family and friends were really concerned about my decision to fly down to Izmir , turkey and volunteer for a week with the Syrian refugees around Izmir. Their concerns were valid as Turkey wasn't exactly the safest place to be and travel to with all the attacks going on off late But I didn't really listen to anyone , there was this desire in me and a tiny bit of faith to go on with my trip as planned. So I took this plunge and here I am in Izmir.
Some of you might be wondering why izmir ?
Over the past few years due to the civil war in SYRIA, millions of Syrians have fled their home in hope for a better and brighter future. Turkey is currently hosting the largest number of Syrian refugees with a estimating figure of 2.4 million. I heard so much about the refugees here in Izmir that I had to come down and do my bit for them.
What can i say ? medvint is the ONLY medical organisation providing medical treatment to more then 20 over camps scattrered all over Izmir. We constantly run out of medical supplies and are in definite need of more health care workers and funds to replenish our stock of medications and expertise. whats sad is these refugees dont have an ID thus its nearly imposible to get treated by a local hospital unless its an emergency and that to the wait for a turn taKes HOURS! The kids are mostly sick , affected as they dont have a clean drinking water source -contaminated wells and some camps aren't provided with water as well. We've been advising them to the boil the water they consume but not all camps have the luxury of big pots to boil water. Poor nutrition and the lack of hygiene in these camps add to the problem as well .
From diarrhoea , rash, fever , respiratory injection , bacterial skin infection , fungal infections, scabies , urinary Tract infection , vaginitis , tonsillitis , varicose vein and many more - I think I've seen quite a bit in just 4 days !
It's sad to see anyone really living in such conditions really, there were times were I got really emotional but yeah this if life isn't it..... their tents are made of plastic just enough to protect them from rain and shine , filled with flies and weird looking insects. Some camps have electricity and some completely don't. They sleep on dirty carpets and hardly have clean clothes to wear.
To earn a living the men and female both work some in the fields , some in nearby factories but are paid peanuts. Exploitation of these refugees is a norm here. Not only do they get horrible wages , they have to pay heavy rents to their landlords for the land :(
I can go and on about this but really I am glad I came , glad I took that leap of faith and did my part for the people here. My one week is nearly up but with me I am taking back memories which can't be bought, gratitude which I see in the eyes of these refugees when we treat them , love and compassion between the refugees and us and most importantly I am bringing back hope. Hope that with this ,more like minded people would come fourth and do their bit to help them. Your kind actions would highly and deeply appreciated by them - the people of Syria.
Give Without expecting anything in return and bless those you can within your Means. Humbling thoughts before I call it a night ❤️
Love ,

"The Dreamcatcher"
On the path towards my dream
No red carpets spread for me
All I see are barriers and thorns
But the goal within my heart
Gives the strength and power to move me on
However far away, I'll chase through
On the road that seems so long
My body and soul still carry on
There'll never be the day when I turn back, no~
I may cry, and I may fall
But I'll rise again, all on my own
This is just the journey I believe in
Someday I'll be as I dream, I'll make it true
No matter how hard, I'll give my all ... ให้ดังฝัน! (สำเนียงอีสาน 55+)
ส่วนท่อนที่เหลือเป็นภาษาไทยเหมือนเดิมครับ :)
