i saw a post from someone about the upcoming Bersih 4.0 and it really made me angry.
this man, who shall remain unnamed, lamented that the bersih 4.0 rally is going to inconvenience everyone because of the traffic jams it will cause due to the road closures etc. he goes on to suggest that bersih 4.0 should instead be held in putrajaya, where the PM's office is.
i'm sure this person thinks they are very smart with their two cents. like the organizers of bersih 4.0 are so dumb that the thought of organizing bersih 4.0 in putrajaya had never crossed their minds?
to occupy putrajaya, you'd need to do it on a working day, because on public holidays and weekends there is nobody working in the government offices. duh. how many people are willing to take time off from work, and lose pay, so that they can march and picket at putrajaya on a weekday?
so there'll be some traffic disturbances. big whoop. sometimes, we need to think a little further than just our own comfort and convenience, and look beyond some basic traffic problems. there is a higher purpose here than just rallying in yellow clothes and carrying slogans on a board, you know...
yes, road closures, and traffic re-routes ARE an inconvenience. but it's a small inconvenience that we should ALL be willing to endure, for the betterment of our country and people.
use an alternate traffic route. take the LRT. would it kill anyone to do this for one lousy weekend?
there are people out there willing to go out on a limb, risk themselves getting tasered, water-cannon blasted, tear-gassed, all for your betterment, and all you can care about is how you're going to be inconvenienced by some traffic problems? WAKE UP. if we are not even willing to suffer just a smidgen of inconvenience in order to affect a great change, maybe we don't deserve to attain that change.
don't be so selfish. don't be so stupid.
