這本書敘述的是，犯下一百多起案件的金州殺手的偵辦過程
作者 (一名記者) 自述寫這本書的初衷，就是讓更多人重視這個案子，希望能得到更多線索
因為金州殺手始終都沒抓到
坦白說，第一次看的時候覺得有點過譽了
雖然有些章捷寫得相當精采，犯罪文學的元素在這本書一個都沒少
但是時間軸的排序卻相對錯亂
(不是昆丁式最後會對焦的那種錯亂，是很隨興排列的那種錯亂 XD)
結果讓我意想不到的是，原來這是一個未完成的作品
作者在2016年的時候心臟病突發過世，當時這本書她才寫一半
他丈夫為了幫她完成遺願，將這本書整理成冊，沒添加和刪減太多文字就出版了
而就在書出版兩個月後，金州殺手就落網了。
