When we were little, happiness came from the simplest things. It was AJ’s 5th birthday yesterday, I woke up super early to make pancakes for breakfast as per his request, then we played a bit together at home. For lunch, we brought him to his favorite Japanese restaurant to have his beloved beef rice and the server was so nice to prepare that little birthday dessert surprise for him. Then we brought him to the toy shop to pick himself two birthday gifts without giving him any specific budget. He chose one tiny model car and a 100pcs puzzle. I double-checked if those were the gifts he wanted, he said yes with a huge smile on his face and gave me a big hug to thank me. Instead of picking the biggest or most expensive toy in the shop, he chose what he really liked. Yes, we all were once like this, when we get happy and content over such simple things. Since when did things start to get so complicated?
