As a Taiwanese, Aden’s Mummy often brought pearls (tapioca balls) from Taiwan back to Singapore. Recently, food safety saga has become a highly discussed topic, and it was said that traces of plasticizer were found in pearls! What in the world is still safe for our kids’ consumption? Thus, she has decided to make pearls herself. It’s super easy to make and the taste is way better than those available outside. Most importantly, it’s safe!
Fast forward to the last minute of this video for the ingredients and directions!
[材料]
1. 太白粉 50g
2. 黑糖 15g
3. 水 35ml
[做法]
1. 把35ml的水煮开
2. 加入黑糖搅拌,将黑糖煮至滚沸
3. 黑糖水煮沸后,立刻冲入太白粉,拌匀成面团
4. 稍凉时,将面团擀平
5. 面团切成方块
6. 把方块搓成圆形
7. 将搓好的粉圆放入1公升的滚水煮15分钟
8. 关火焖20分钟
9. 煮好的粉圆可直接拌入黑糖食用,或加入豆/牛奶变成饮品
[Ingredients]
1. Potato Starch 50g
2. Brown Sugar 15g
3. Water 35ml
[Directions]
1. Boil 35ml of water
2. Add the brown sugar into the water, stir it well and cook till it boils
3. Immediately pour the brown sugar into the potato starch, stir well till it turns into a dough
4. Roll the dough flat after it cools down
5. Cut the dough into small little cubes
6. Shape the cubes into pearls (balls)
7. Put the pearls into 1L of boiling water and let it cook for 15 minutes
8. Off the stove and let the pearls steam for 20 minutes
9. Enjoy the pearls by adding some brown sugar to it or simply have the pearls with milk/soya bean drink
