Teaching our Children
“Therefore you shall lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul. You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them your children, talking of them, when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates; that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.” (Deuteronomy 11:18-21 WEB)
God wants us (parents) to teach our children. Nowadays there are many ways to outsource education, but we cannot leave our children completely in the hands of the secular education system.
The most important thing to teach our children from infancy is : God’s word. Teaching is not about seating them in front of a desk with a thick Bible and going through chapter by chapter.
Be led by the Holy Spirit, and whenever an appropriate teaching moment arises, use the chance to talk about Jesus and make the faith real and practical in your children’s lives.
For example, if your child fell down and scraped his knee, just comfort him and pray together, declaring that Jesus’ healing power is entering the wound to fix it.
Before each meal, thank Jesus for the food and declare it sanctified in Jesus’ name. Tell your children that the Lord is specially preparing the food to be clean, good, and healthy for them.
Whenever possible, quote portions of Scripture to etch it in your children’s hearts. “Wow look at all these gifts that we received! Praise Jesus—the Lord is truly our Shepherd, and we shall not lack!”
Teach them Gospel truths—what is applicable under the New Covenant of Grace. Definitely don’t make them recite or memorize the Ten Commandments of the Law.
The Gospel has a prospering effect. It has the power to save from every trouble. As a parent, and especially if you are a father, you are also entrusted with the role of leading your children in their spiritual growth.
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6 WEB)
By the leading of the Holy Spirit, build a strong foundation of faith for your children, and they will greatly benefit from it throughout their lives!
When I wrote the book “Sandcastles Don’t Last Forever” the compiled truths within were designed for the whole family. It is so important that our children know from young that we do our best in life for the Lord’s sake, to worship Him, and that He is the one who will reward us. There is no need to live for the praise of men. This belief alone will save them from many disappointments and heartaches.
There are so many great lessons about eternal rewards in the book. I hope you can get it (either the eBook or a paperback copy) and share the truths with your children in a relatable way, after digesting the revelations yourself: http://bit.ly/sandcastlesdontlastforever

Did you know that we all have someone who loves us very much? Who is so close to our hearts? Who loves us more than our friends, our family...more than our own parents! In fact, he loved us more than a thousand years before we were even born into this world! He loved us so much that his love carried on until he breathed his last breath - the words he uttered on his deathbed were "Ummati, ummati, ummati"!
Every year, the 12th Rabi’ al-Awwal marks the birth of this great lover, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This is obviously a very special day for us - if even our birthday is special to us, just imagine how significant the birthday of our beloved Prophet is! But if he is so special, why celebrate only one single day every year? On Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, we always say that we should be celebrating our parents every day, not just on those specifically allocated days. So surely, our beloved Prophet deserves more than just a day in his honour! In fact, in each of our five daily prayers, we pledge two things: that Allah is our one and only God, and Muhammad is His messenger. This is a sign of just how high the status of our Prophet is held.
We should remember the Prophet every single day, every minute, every second of our lives. We should strive to live our life in his footsteps and follow his examples - they truly are timeless, and are still relevant after hundreds of years! All of this is what my parents have passed on to me about this great lover, and it’s inspired me to try to live up to his love, to repay his love, to be worthy of his love and follow the path he has walked. Let’s not waste today as just a one-off celebration, but together, let’s make today the turning point of living our lives by following the Sunnah our Prophet left behind. May Allah keep me and all of us under His guidance so we can all gather with our beloved Prophet one sweet day in Jannatul Firdaus...

Turning away from Jesus is a real joy stealer.
Why are you looking around, comparing yourself with others? You’re specifically designed by God for a unique purpose.
A bamboo plant shouldn’t complain that it hasn’t sprouted yet like the grass.
Everyone blooms in their own season and are made beautiful in their time.
The diversity of us all is what makes God’s great garden beautiful.
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:...He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in their hearts, yet so that man can’t find out the work that God has done from the beginning even to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice, and to do good as long as they live. Also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy good in all his labor, is the gift of God. I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it; and God has done it, that men should fear before him.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11-14 WEB)
Just because someone else is already walking in their calling or is living an incredibly blessed life, doesn’t mean that God favors them over you.
Your time is coming—the season just happens to be at a different appointed time than others.
Many trees that take long to grow actually have deeper roots and grow to become extremely tall.
If you have been faithfully feeding on His word and praying for breakthroughs but see nothing happening, I believe God is developing strong, deep roots for you.
You’re going to spring forth high into the sky, so you’ll need a strong foundation before that happens—if not you risk toppling over.
Those who go far with their calling can only do so when they cease to be affected by the need to please men.
Being controlled by the opinions of others will cause you to forfeit God’s best for you.
“The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe.” (Proverbs 29:25 WEB)
If you walk by trying to please men, then you’ll be doing the works of the flesh.
They don’t really care about you anyway so don’t mind what they think.
I’m referring to critics who have no relationship with you.
If you have trusted leaders in your life who have given good counsel, then their words should have some weight in shaping your decisions.
“A wise man has great power; and a knowledgeable man increases strength; for by wise guidance you wage your war; and victory is in many advisors.” (Proverbs 24:5-6 WEB)
Most of all, consciously desire to follow the Holy Spirit and you will do what God desires—His plans are always for your good, to give you a future and a hope.

Not all Heroes Wear A Cape / Owl City (cover by Vivien Loh)
My dad, a huge dog lover , enjoys photography , really good in Maths , kind hearted with a funny sense of humor. Not to mention a very rational person and also a man with few words ^^
Whenever Im feeling confused or worried you would always be the one who teach me how to see things in a different perspective and in a positive light!
My dad always says : " Push yourself out of your comfort zone , try and try harder , nothing is impossible "
Well dad, as I grow older , I start to understand how much you've sacrificed for us, providing us with everything you could possibly give .You really did push yourself to the limits hence blessing us with what we have today =) Nope , you don't wear a cape nor have a superman sign on your chest , but in our hearts, you're forever our Super Hero! ^^
I wana dedicate this song specially to my Daddy ~
and to all the Daddys in the world
Happy Papa's Day ~

Lyrics:
"Not All Heroes Wear Capes"
He doesn't fight crime or wear a cape
He doesn't read minds or levitate
But every time my world needs saving, he's my superman
Some folks don't believe in heroes 'cause they haven't met my dad
He loves his petshops and rock and roll
He's got a hot rod and a heart of gold
And you could say he's a man of few words, but he talks a lot within
And even though I'm a little shorter, I still look up to him
He built me a house in the arms of a tree
He taught me to drive, and to fight, and to dream
When he looks in my eyes I hope he can see
That my dad's a hero to me
