I had this interesting conversation with a friend recently. Its hard for him to swallow the fact that many of us are loosing our courtesy, manners and human side. He is getting fed up with holding the lift for people that does not turn back and say thank you. Smiling on trains in the morning and receiving a frown back. He went on expressing that even close friends and family members these days are getting more self absorb day after day.. expecting a Christmas card when they themselves hardly ever sends one. Tired of receiving a 10 dollars gift card for an expensive gift exchange...
i sat there and smiled as i listened.. i would have to agree with how our society has slowly but surely turn their backs on manners and etiquette. No more thank you's and smiles unless they benefit largely from the situation and honestly i miss that however i try to keep myself at check if have i reenacted these sins.. but after all these years what i learned was not to expect anything back.. you see, some people where taught or trained by their family to do so, some did not have that in their family, we then label them uneducated but to them they never knew of such ways so how can we judge them with the standards that we were taught. I mean who set those standards in the first place. Im not a good example but i confess that i would pay that little extra attention and spend a little fortune on people that matters to me. Be it birthdays, xmas or any special occasion and i would try to go out of my way to make those people happy. But then i usually get hurt. When i dont get the same treatment or attention from the other person. It made me feel really miserable and i tend to ponder on old incidents that hurt and i slowly pull away if i can.. but slowly i realize why was i so stupid to put myself in such a situation. If i really want to shower the person with gifts or pay extra attention then its my decision and my own doing and so be it if the person does not repay the kindness as equivalent to the effort that i put in then so be it. Maybe its not in them, maybe they dont see u as special, maybe they have some thigh knots they need to tie.. so be it.. i treat that as little charity that i do.. and insyallah if that intentions was pure enough i regain in folds that i could not imagine.. do my opinion about the person change abit? I would lie if i say no. But i dont let that bother me.. cause theres so many other things out there for me to spent my energy on. So much more to explore and experience... the key is dont bother yourself with little petty incidents or people.. smile.. vent a while and move on.. i assure u life get a bit more easier like that.. all right time to prepare for the breaking of fast.. good luck bro.. remember smile and walk away.. hope you enjoy your stroll..

People who don’t understand lexical semantics put up this kind of suggestions. “Fast” and “quick” are two different ideas though both may have something to do with the speed of performance. “Fast” is purely measured by a clock while “quick” may be experienced in response time. They may have semantic common bond but they aren’t the same thing. “Small” and “tiny” are also two different ideas though both share the semantic range of talking about size. “Tiny” is smaller than “small.” We can multiple this example. Language usage isn’t about creating the next Internet sensation. It’s about precision. Popularity or extra exposure doesn’t make something right. Precision does. Be careful with language use and ignore this kind of sensational suggestion. 5 minutes worth of fame isn’t worth 5 years of misinformation. For biblical students, go read the works of Louw and Nida. You’ll learn a bunch there on expressing yourself and reading anything. https://www.facebook.com/…/a.37704848565…/1208353545856830/…
