期間限定! It is expected that there will be soooooooo many people in Tai O in this weekend.

Tai O is already filled with Lanterns! Will you see me in Tai O this weekend? Probably no, as it is tooooooo far away from the city centre… it takes me at least 5 hours travelling time in total. But Tai O is definitely a place that worths visit - Best preserved fishing village in HK. Consider to wait till 6:30pm for all the Lanterns to light up 😍

Tips: Staying in Tai O overnight is a good idea, but the only hotel - Tai O Heritage Hotel @taioheritagehotel has only 9 rooms and is always full. So you better plan ahead of time and book months in advance.

Make sure you get the ferry tickets back to Tung Chung as soon as you can. The ticket kiosk near Tai O pier opens at 1pm and ticket sold out very soon!

How to go: Take bus 11 from Tung Chung Town Centre to Tai O bus terminus

We have been introducing Cotton tree again and again in the past few years. This year we did something different and went to some typical Instagram spots for photos of flowers. Earlier we went to Nam Cheong Park for Golden Trumpet and for today, introducing to you the Bougainvillea 簕杜鵑 Tunnel in Cheung Sha Wan.

Spring in Hong Kong is very humid, which I don’t like it (who else doesn’t like it too 🤦🏻‍♀️) But this is the only time you see flowers of different kinds bloom and it’s time to take some beautiful pictures 📸 We went there on Sunday morning, the flowers are still in full bloom. Fun fact:
The colour of petals of Bougainvillea is WHITE but NOT pink. The pink colour “petal” you see is actually the bract. (See last photo)

I thought it is going to catch a fish (see the third photo) Turns out I stood there waiting for 10 minutes (just like the bird) and kept asking my friend “Do you think that it is targeting a fish and I’d going to catch it?”. ⁣

This is a great egret (大白鷺), with a yellow pointed beak. It can be easily spotted near rivers in Hong Kong. ⁣

Another one that looks very similar is little egret (小白鷺), which has a black pointed beak instead.⁣
