Some people think that cultural traditions may be destroyed when they are used as money-making attractions aimed at tourists. Others, however, believe that it is the only way to save these attractions. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
📍📍Reasons why some people think cultural traditions may be destroyed when they are used as money-making attractions aimed at tourists:
• uncontrolled mass tourism → damage cultural heritage sites irreversibly: du lịch đại trà không kiểm soát → phá hại các địa điểm di sản văn hóa không thể phục hồi được
• challenges from wear and tear → tourists carve their names on rock art: những thách thức từ sự hao mòn/ hư tổn → khách du lịch khắc tên mình lên nghệ thuật trên đá
• to be dirty with red wine stains and lumps of chewing gums: bị bẩn vết rượu vang đỏ và kẹo cao su
• significant amounts of corals → destroyed by boats and scuba divers: số lượng đáng kể san hô → bị phá hủy bởi thuyền và thợ lặn
• noisy motor boats and water scooters → disrupt the feeding and breeding patterns of birds, marine creatures: thuyền máy ồn ào và xe tay ga nước → phá vỡ sự sinh trưởng và sinh sản của các loài chim, sinh vật biển.
• the construction of large hotels near Angkor Wat → affect the water table beneath the tempers: việc xây dựng các khách sạn lớn gần đền Angkor Wat → ảnh hưởng đến mực nước ngầm bên dưới các ngôi đền
• Hoi An (Vietnam): massive influx of tourists → many local people are forced to move from the town’s centre to live on the outskirts: Hội An (VN): lượng khách du lịch ồ ạt → nhiều người dân địa phương buộc phải di chuyển từ trung tâm thị trấn để sống ở ngoại ô
• vandalise ancient monuments: phá hoại các di tích cổ
• cause irreparable damage: gây ra thiệt hại không thể khắc phục được
📍📍Reasons why other people think it is the only way to save these attractions
• the increase in visitor numbers → provide funds for restoration and protection efforts: sự gia tăng số lượng khách du lịch → cung cấp kinh phí cho các nỗ lực phục hồi và bảo vệ các di sản
• promote cultural values: truyền bá các giá trị văn hóa
• support local handicrafts: hỗ trợ thủ công mỹ nghệ địa phương
• create sufficient incentives for local communities to support conservation and protection: tạo ra nguồn trợ cấp đầy đủ cho cộng đồng địa phương để hỗ trợ bảo tồn và bảo vệ các di sản
• well-managed cultural tourism → encourage the revival of traditions and the restoration of heritage sites and monuments: du lịch văn hóa được quản lý tốt → khuyến khích sự hồi sinh của truyền thống và phục hồi các di sản và di tích
• insufficient government support/ lack of funding → many sites might fall into disrepair: không đủ hỗ trợ của chính phủ / thiếu kinh phí → nhiều địa điểm có thể rơi vào tình trạng hư hỏng
