So a few weeks ago I made the decision to make a teenage dream come true. I have been in love with the Datsun 510 since I rode in a hot rodded one when I was 14. I am an undercover gearhead and kind of addicted to car build tv shows. So for the past few years I have been building up the gumption to start a project of my own. So a few weeks ago I found this 1972 510 in Utah and had it shipped to California to begin a massive JDM style restomod. It will be called The Tantō after the short sword carried by samurai. The name is appropriate not only because this is a Japanese car but because the Tantō is small but deadly and just like this car will be. When it's all done it will look kind of like the rendering below. The mechanics will be done by 510 race and build king Troy Ermish. The carbureted engine is being built #rebelloracing and will put out around 220hp. I am hoping to show the finished car at SEMA this year if we can find a sponsor to put it in their booth(can anyone help in this regard?) I'll keep posting progress photos as the build moves along. Today it was fully striped down and is ready to get media blasted down to the bare metal then off to the body shop for rust repair and paint.
