Welcome to our Raya Magazine, which presents the latest dazzling collection from Melinda Looi, curated specially to celebrate the upcoming Raya season.

In keeping with our rich culture and heritage, the Magazine Collection consists of traditional Malay garments that have been given a fresh, youthful interpretation. Using cool materials – mostly pure cotton mixed with viscose and dobby – the designs bring back the elegance of yesteryear. But, as with all Melinda Looi creations, with a modern twist.

The Baju Kurung, Kebaya and Kedah are crafted with traditional batik prints and, perhaps less traditional, sometimes embellished with lace. They are brought to life in a range of colours – from bright and bold hues like canary yellow, fuchsia and cerise, to softer tones of salmon pink. The kimono cuts, too, are eclectic - combining more androgynous boxy shapes with femininity and fluidity.

In her trademark style, Melinda Looi incorporates mismatched prints within the collection, adding her stamp to timeless and classic Malaysian fashion pieces. You can also see intricate beading details that have become woven into her DNA as a designer.

Today, as the world goes through a difficult time with the Covid-19 outbreak, we say a private prayer to keep as many people as possible safe. We also hope that the vibrancy of colours and designs in this collection can bring at least a little lightness and joy as we wait for the beginning of a bright new dawn.

1. Heboh juak cerita baju Miss Universe nok dipolah oleh Rizman Ruzaini dlm media sosial. Baju dpolah nya ya ada twin tower kat duak belah bahu Miss Malaysia. Nakpa lagik sidak netizen lalu ngecam madah baju ya bukan baju traditional Malaysia. Hahaha. Ok, menurut apa yg NgekTsai baca n lihat, sik semestinya baju ratu cantik sigek negara tek mesti baju traditional. Kedak kita, baju kurung, kebaya n so on. Apa2 yg melambangkan negara si ratu cantik, boleh diolah menjadi pakaian sidak nya time bertanding klak. Mun nak ngkah nasik lemak rah baju pun boleh, asal melambangkan negara kita jak. HAHAHA Siney nak nepuk nasik lemak ya? ?
2. Kepada sesiapa yg baru daftar jadi #ngektsaiarmy, (follow la maksud nye), tq!!! NgekTsai nak kongsi something kat korang pasal "kau tek sekerem". Feb 2016, time NgekTsai mula2 berjinak2 buat video. Awal bulan Mac 2016, Ngektsai upload satu video pasal org yg pakai baju colour-blocking kaler striking2 nih. Kalau org lain cakap colour-blocking, NgekTsai di Sarawak kata "sekerem". Koz bila tengok pakaian banyak colour pakai skali kat badan, teringat la ice-cream paddle pop perisa rainbow tu. Hahaha. Tak melampau kalau NgekTsai kata most of org2 sarawak tahu n terikut2 ayat "ko tek sekerem?" (Kau tu aiskrim ker?) *intonasi, sarcasticly. Ayat yg dituturkan time lepak dgn member, tak sangka pulak jadi ikutan ramai kat sarawak. Hahaha. Lepas tu tersebar n ramaila yg follow #ngektsai dlm ig n fb. Sampai satu masa tu org cakap fenomena ngektsai, koz seminggu lebeh jer dpt 20K followers. Hahaha. Kenangan sungguh...
