A trishaw ride in KidZania Singapore, how Kool is that?
The kids dressed up as early settlers of Singapore and it instantly made the boy look 10 years older, didn't it? The girls tried on a samsui headdress, held a mortar and pestle, and walked around on traditional clogs. They became coolies for a moment and went around delivering rice sacks. They also went on a fun trivia hunt to find out more about our country's rich history - did you know our national flower, Vanda Miss Joaquim, was chosen from among 40 flowers and this variety called "Agnes" was chosen in particular for its vibrant colours, hardiness and resilience?
From 16 March to 21 April, KidZania celebrates Singapore's progress and achievements at its inaugural KidZ & Heritage event, with activities that shine a spotlight on our nation's founding and development. Kids can look forward to highlights such as:
- Heritage-themed role play activities at Courier Service, Newspaper Edition and Imaging Academy
- 'History of Singapore' Trivia Hunt
Look out for the standees (5 on L1, 3 on L2) and answer all the questions to redeem extra kidZos.
- Heritage Photo Booth at Main Square
Dress up as early settlers and pose for a Kool photo. First 50 families daily to upload their pictures on IG and FB stand to win a Canon Pixma printer.
- Trishaw Experience around the City
Kids get to ride around the city (rider must be 7yo and above) at $5 for 15mins and redeem a free photo too.
- Colouring Activity
Add colours to a heritage-themed sheet.
- Drawing competition by MuzArt
Three categories for kids aged 3-6, 7-9 and 10-12.
For more details, visit https://kidzania.com.sg/event/kidz-heritage/.
The kids might never understand the efforts and hardship our pioneers went through and for sure, they simply had fun playing and pretending. But it's a good start and spurs us to talk about more topics regading our culture, roots and history. Thanks to KidZania for having us at this awesome initiative!

The road to the NBA Finals in the Eastern Conference goes through First Union Center.
With Allen Iverson firing away from the outside and scoring 37 points and Dikembe Mutombo patrolling the paint with 18 rebounds and seven blocked shots, the Philadelphia 76ers posted a 108-95 victory over Boston, severely damaging the Celtics' playoff hopes.
The 76ers (54-23) clinched first place in the Eastern Conference for the first time since 1982-83, when they won their last NBA title with Moses Malone and Julius Erving.
"The last team that won the East was so long ago," Iverson said. "The players were so much different, the game was so much different. It was more physical then. It's physical now, but it was a lot more physical then because you could do a lot more things with your hands. It's sweeter right now because I'm part of it. I'm happy for my teammates, my coaches and the fans of Philadelphia."
The San Antonio Spurs own the top record in the NBA at 55-22, one game ahead of Philadelphia.
"I'm thrilled that we won the conference and the division, that's an accomplishment," said Sixers coach Larry Brown. "I don't think we could be any prouder of our team. We won the first two series the last two years without the homecourt, so I don't think we could take anything for granted. We just have to keep trying to play better and try to improve."
The loss dropped Boston (35-43) 2 1/2 games behind Indiana (36-40) for the eighth spot. The Pacers rolled to a 100-78 rout of the Washington Wizards on Monday.
The Celtics again proved to be no match against a team they would face in the first round. Boston has lost six straight meetings with Philadelphia, including all four this season.
The Sixers scored the first eight points of the game, built a 14-point advantage at halftime, led by as many as 19 after three quarters and outrebounded the Celtics, 52-30.
"They killed us on the boards," said Celtics coach Jim O'Brien. "We had nobody to contend with Mutombo tonight. We were actually just trying to tip it away from him instead of just grabbing it. That just didn't work out."
Once again, it was Antoine Walker, Paul Pierce and little else for the Celtics, who lost for the fifth time in seven games. Walker scored 26 points and Pierce finished with 23.
Iverson returned after sitting out two straight games with tailbone and hip ailments and hit 13-of-33 shots from the field and 10-of-12 from the free throw line.
"It is tough to really stop a guy like him, you just try to slow him down," Pierce said. "We didn't do much of that either. They just killed us on the boards and got to every loose ball."
Iverson cranked up 16 shots in the first quarter alone and scored 14 points as the Sixers held a 28-24 lead.
George Lynch and Aaron McKie combined for 15 in the second quarter when the Sixers outscored the Celtics, 30-20. Iverson had just four points in the quarter.
Six different players contributed as the Sixers closed the half with a 15-6 run to increase their lead to 58-44.
Jumaine Jones ignited the spurt with a 16-foot jumper, Iverson converted a pair of free throws and Lynch hit a short jumper. Mutombo, who finished with 12 points, followed with a driving hook, Eric Snow hit a 15-footer, McKie connected on a 3-pointer and Lynch capped the run with a layup.
The Celtics opened the second half with a 10-3 spurt as Walker connected on a pair of 3-pointers, pulling them within 71-64.
But Philadelphia closed the quarter with a 16-6 run, opening an 86-67 lead. Iverson highlighted the spurt with three jumpers and a free throw.
Boston pulled no closer than nine in the fourth quarter. But after Walker connected on a 3-pointer to cut Philadelphia's lead to 98-89 with 2:45 left, Snow and Tyrone Hill hit short jumpers to seal the win.
Hill finished with 16 points and McKie added 13.
"It just goes to show you that good things can happen when you work hard and everyone's playing together," Hill said. "With everything we've been through, the adversity, injuries and stuff like that, you can't ask for much more."

The 1999 NBA season was the 53rd season of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Due to a lockout, the season did not start until February 5, 1999 after a new six-year Collective Bargaining Agreement was reached between the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association. All 29 teams played a shortened 50-game regular season schedule- 61% of the regular 82 games- and the 16 teams who qualified for the playoffs played a full post-season schedule. That season's All-Star Game was also canceled. The season ended with the San Antonio Spurs winning the franchise's first NBA championship, beating the New York Knicks 4 games to 1 in the 1999 NBA Finals.
The second lockout in the history of the NBA lasted from July 1, 1998 to January 20, 1999. NBA owners were seeking changes to the league's salary cap system and a ceiling on individual player salaries. The National Basketball Players Association opposed the owners' plans and wanted raises for players who earned the league's minimum salary.
As the labor dispute continued into September, the preseason was shortened to just two games instead of the normal eight, and training camps were postponed indefinitely.[1] By October, it became the first time in NBA history that games were canceled due to a labor dispute.[2] Further games were canceled by November and December, including the All-Star Game, which had been scheduled to be played on February 14, 1999. The preseason also got cancelled as well.
An agreement between the owners and players was eventually reached on January 18, 1999. When play resumed, the regular season was shortened to 50 games per team, as opposed to the normal 82. As a result, some teams did not meet each other at all during the course of the shortened season. In addition, to preserve games between teams in the same conference, much of the time missed was made up for by skipping well over half of the games played between teams in the opposite conference. 1998--99 was the first season following the departure of Michael Jordan before he returned to play for the Washington Wizards. The New York Knicks became only the second #8 seed to advance in the playoffs by defeating a #1 seed. As of 2013, they remain the only #8 seed to have advanced to the NBA Finals. The Los Angeles Lakers played their final season at the Great Western Forum. Due to the fact that the Great Western Bank ceased to exist two seasons prior, the arena name was replaced by the team name on center court, in anticipation of the move to the Staples Center. The Los Angeles Clippers played their final season at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. The Indiana Pacers played their final season at the Market Square Arena. The Denver Nuggets played their final season at the McNichols Sports Arena. The Miami Heat played their final season at the Miami Arena, although they still played the first two months of the following season at this arena before moving to the American Airlines Arena in January 2000. The Toronto Raptors played their first game in Air Canada Centre on February 21. The San Antonio Spurs became the first former ABA team to win a championship. (As of June 2012, they are still the only ABA franchise with a title; the Nets and Pacers have not won a title, and the Nuggets have never played an NBA Finals game.) The Atlanta Hawks played another season in the Georgia Dome while Philips Arena was constructed for the 1999--2000 season. This season would be the Hawks' last playoff appearance until the 2007--08 season. The Clippers tied the 1988-89 Miami Heat for the longest losing streak to start the season (17) from February 5 till March 11 when they defeated the Sacramento Kings. In December 2009, this record was broken by the New Jersey Nets who lost the first eighteen games of the season. Hall of Fame coach Red Holzman died on November 13, 1998 at age 78.

Thirteen years ago Saturday, Tracy McGrady scored 13 points in 35 seconds to stun the San Antonio Spurs.
On Dec. 9, 2004, the Houston Rockets faced a 76-68 deficit with less than a minute remaining. McGrady then caught fire, draining four three-pointers. The second was part of a four-point play, and his final shot secured an 81-80 victory.
"We were down two, and the only thing I could think of was a three-pointer," McGrady said after the game, per NBA.com. "I felt like anything I threw up was going in."
The star shooting guard averaged 25.7 points per game during the 2004-05 season. Yet none remain as memorable as the 13 he rapidly produced to pull off an epic comeback against the Spurs, who later won the NBA Finals on the strength of their stifling defense.
