What is happiness? Happiness is a kind of belief, a kind of persistence, a positive understanding and correct practice of life. Regulate the inner gains and losses, make people live a happy way, and a happy mentality, and create their own inner positive power for life. Facing the ups and downs of life, coping with agility, and wisdom, then life is all good. Use your own mentality to live out your inner positivity and brightness.
The happiness series of lectures hope to provide the public with insights into the fields of Buddhism, psychology and medicine, and construct a happy life attitude through the sharing of professionals, so that we can be positive not only in life, but also in our hearts, understand life, and shape life, make life fulfilling, friendly, healthy and comfortable.
In the 6th lecture of the happiness series of lectures, we are delighted to invite The Catz to share with us "shaping our new life"

I love 2020!
YES, i loved 2020, with or without Covid, with or without travelling. Then again, I'm the kind of person who's able to love whatever life has to offer. I'm overly positive, as some of my friends would call it. Thanks for the compliment! *teeheehee
2020 is an interesting year. It feels like nothing much happened, but actually so many things happened! We as a planet, have learnt to rise above a pandemic together! We showed our ability to adapt and adjust accordingly - highest form of resilience!
As for me, in 2020, i graduated from Positive Psychology, and used that knowledge to serve a growing community through Circuit Breaker. I also became a mom, and used that experience to reach out to a very strong and supportive community. My heart is so full from these 2 -frankly, not being able to travel did not steal away any form of joy for me in 2020 at all.
2020 is also the year i see myself evolving more and more to the person I've always wanted to be. I've always been someone who's positive, joyful and full of love. However through life's adversities, a layer of bitterness, insecurity, anger and unjust encrusted over it. Over the years, I've put in a lot of selfwork to heal those broken parts of me - not to reject them, but to acknowledge and embrace them, and understand that all those unlovable parts of me were just trying to protect a more vulnerable Sheila.
This year, it almost felt like Sheila2.0 surfaced. I've never felt more calm and at peace with life, with myself. Deon and i hardly fight anymore. We still have our differences, but i can now resolve them without having to scream and cry! I've learnt to agree to disagree, but that doesn't mean I'm compromising on my beliefs and values, it just means I've learnt to respect that we humans are all made differently.
I like this new me. I'm grateful to meet her at age 36. Its never too early, nor too late to understand true happiness.
What a great year. What a great life.

The biggest misconception of a positive psychology practitioner is that we are always positive, and we always got our sh*t together.
Wrong.
Bcos like every human being alive - be it positive psychology practioner or public figure or a (happiness guru for that matter) there are just days where we aren't feeling our best!
Studying positive psychology does not make the problems, issues and emotions go away. It just helps me become more aware of my mental state of being while riding through them, and i know i have the required tools to help me get out of it when i want to.
But can i still choose to let myself feel out of control and miserable, can i still lose sleep over silly things and cry over spilled milk? Can i still feel angry with someone who's overstepped my boundaries, or did something nasty?
Of cos!
So, as I'm writing this post at 5:46am. Tonight, i accept that i am losing sleep and stressing over things i cannot control.
As i inch closer to my due date, the fear of the unknown grows. I worry that I'll not know how to latch well, what if i have no milk? What if i don't know how to carry my baby or swaddle her? What am i gonna do if i cant stop her from crying even after feeding her and changing her diaper? What if i don't know how to get her to sleep?
The list goes on.
Do i need to have answers to them right now? No.
Can i predict the future? No.
Have i done all i can to read and ask professionals about it?Yes.
Should i be worrying about it now? No.
Am i worried about it though? Yes.
I accept and allow my thoughts to run wild tonight. I wish it didn't, but i ain't gonna fault myself for it. I know it's absolutely normal and inevitable that I'm feeling stressed.
I'll get better sleep tomorrow.
Journaling always make me feel better. Now, time to sleep and look pretty for my prenatal shoot later. 🤭

That's why I spent a lot of time preparing for this speech because I hope to share my most honest words/unique experiences & how this past few months have changed my perspective. Unfortunately I have missed Olympic trials because of my ankle injury, I felt defeated because Olympics was my dream, just like every other athlete's dream to compete at the highest level of their sport, & I was only one step away. My world seemed to have collapsed, but during my recovery I have learned to change my views on becoming more positive. I have been back to skating recently & feel great to do what I love again?Gliding through the ice I am home again. It has been a tough few months, but after fighting through it, I am thankful for my life, all the experiences & opportunities giving me a chance to learn something new everyday. Pressure is pleasure, it is all about how to view your life. MAY YOU CREATE YOUR OWN HAPPINESS, BY THE WAY YOU VIEW YOUR WORLD!!!!
