“For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him. For, “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher? And how will they preach unless they are sent? The Gospel is an open invitation to everyone to be reconciled to God.
God promises that whoever calls on Jesus’ name to receive Him as Lord and Savior will be saved.
A preacher’s job is to declare the Gospel to people, giving them the opportunity to believe and be saved.
Wonderful things happen when a preacher is sent by God—like a glove that fits a hand perfectly.
Such a preacher will declare the Gospel—exalt Jesus and His finished work at the cross.
A preacher who isn’t sent preaches false doctrine—messages that glorifies man’s strength and ability.
The Gospel (Good News) is of peace because we have the bold assurance that we are always loved and accepted by God once we believe in Jesus.
However if you believe in a works-based salvation, then you’ll never have peace because you’ll never know whether you’re actually saved or not if just one unconfessed/non-repented sin can put you out of fellowship with God.
It’s not good news to hear that you’ll be cursed if you fail to obey God’s Law perfectly. That’s just scary bad news.
