#日本ファルコムが発売した、オリジナルとなる88用RPG作('90年)からの98移植版。
システム自体はオーソドックスな3DダンジョンRPGだが、
登場人物がそれぞれの業、信念、厄災、悲哀等を持ち、ある力によりザムハンの地に集められ共に旅をする。
シナリオは元クリスタルソフト所属で夢幻の心臓シリーズを手掛けていた富一成氏が担当、そのせいか、夢幻の心臓IIに出てくる
言い回しや用語が散見される。
これまでのファルコムからは考えられないダークファンタジーは、プレイヤーの度肝を抜いた。今でも根強いファンが多いのは、それだけ多くのプレイヤーの心を揺さぶったからだろう。
BGMは石川さんと川合氏による共同編曲であり、88版を元に98用ドライバ上で演奏。
楽曲は今までのファルコム作品の持つポップさ、明るさは成りを潜め、ディストーションを効かせた重めなロック曲が多く、ザムハンの地に呼び寄せられた冒険者たちの心情そのものを描写する。
