Woohoo! We are featured in The Sunday Times today!
The topic is on how to have cosy, creative celebrations amidst the pandemic and how staying home presents an opportunity for families to bond and get closer.
If you follow my stories, you will know that Ariel designed an "Animal Experience Studio" for the family to get together and enjoy. She came up with a series of games, including a classification game using our animal figurines, a tossing game where you try to throw the animals into containers of different sizes, an animal 'hunt' where she hid them around the house, a drawing game where she categorised the animals based on easy/medium/hard level, and a Bingo game where she surprised me by painstakingly drawing every card by hand for each of us.
We played this during the Father's Day weekend recently and it was so much fun for the whole family. She even prepared small prizes from her own stationery and a lovely "Thank You" speech to thank us for participating. Awww. So I think she is very thrilled to see it being mentioned in the papers today and to see a huge photo of all of us playing her game. Yup, even her self-designed poster is featured too. You totally deserve it, my dear!
She said she was inspired by my DIY Halloween party last year and the name was derived from our visit to Changi Experience Studio earlier this year. And you know what? The success of this initiative has propelled her to want to create even more party games and celebrations for us in the future. Yippee!
Big thanks also goes to the hubby and the siblings for joining in wholeheartedly and to the big sister for ensuring that the games flowed smoothly too. It is indeed true that celebrating indoors does not have to be mundane but instead, it can be intimate, creative and fun. I am just so happy and relieved that the kids share my sentiments too.
Thanks to Kamal from The Straits Times for interviewing us and even including my blog link in the article too! What a great way to end off the school holidays, which I wish could last longer so we could have more fun as a family.
Have a happy Sunday, everybody! ❤

Our latest family handprint tree. 🌳 Nice mah?
Love the tiny handprint of our newest member, so cute! Oh well, he wasn't very keen about the idea and clenched his fist tightly so it took a group effort to carry him, lower him, paint his hand, open his fingers, press them down and film the process. Haha. Thankfully we have a bunch of older kids who were very willing to help.
This also makes me realise how big they have grown too, like the the big girl who exclaimed " Mama, my hand is almost bigger than yours!" Awwww. Now I think we should do this every few years for keepsake.
I wrote a meaningful quote at the bottom right and drew the house on the left to remind us on the importance of love and family. This is going up in our living room and replacing the old one, which will still be kept for as long as possible.
Hope this will be a lovely surprise for the hubby when he sees it. Happy, happy birthday! ❤

Handmade gifts are still the best, if you ask me.
I've been wanting to write about this but decided to wait till all our friends and family have received it so as not to ruin the surprise.
While we could not hold a big full month party for Ansel, we instead did something fun and different by undertaking a family craft project. This was done in March when I was still on confinement but as you know me, this Mama cannot sit still and gotta find things to do, so I was glad to be able to do some designing, cutting and pasting together with the kids.
In my #Creativity521 post on the blog today, I share how we came together to design a unique Thank You card to thank our friends and family for ther blessings, a customised magnet with a to-do list and a 30-day collage to celebrate baby Ansel's first month.
I am especially proud of the big girl who designed the 'Thank you' banner on the card and wrote the message, the little sister who drew the cute baby, and the boy who was so patient and determined to help me peel off hundreds of pieces of tape day after day.
It's a collective effort from our family and a reminder that simple gifts made from the heart can go a long way. A big thank you to everyone who blessed us with gifts, popped by to visit or sent us their wishes too.
Till our next craft project!
