The origin of la Tomatina is at the end of second world war people threw tomatoes in the street to celebrate. And then it became a tradition. The festival kicks off with a group of people trying to climb up a pole greased with animal fat. A jamón (ham) is hung on top of the pole. The person who removes the ham from the pole becomes the king or queen of the festival.
In the end of August, 2016, we arrived in Buñol to end our wonderful trip with a highlight. The event was full of energy and passion. That pure synergy lit up our youth again. Shouting, crowds, alcohol, tomatoes and zealousness. Impossible to forget!!
