To benefit others is to benefit ourselves
能夠每個念頭都想到「利人就是利己」,便會採取積極的態度。許多人只管自掃門前雪,以自己的利益為重,其實,那是最傻的。
If our every thought is about “benefiting others to benefit ourselves”, we would take on a positive attitude. Many people only think about themselves and put their welfare above all, when actually doing that is very foolish.
古人說:「人不為己,天誅地滅。」今天的我們則應說:「人不為人,天誅地滅。」損人者必自損、害人者必自害,單一地區的環境汙染、經濟惡化、政治混亂與社會風氣敗壞,立刻就會對全體人類的生活安全,帶來負面影響。
The old adage states, “every man for himself”, while today we should say, “every man for others”. Harming others will only bring harm to oneself. For example, environmental pollution, economic down turn, political chaos and social unrest within a region will immediately cause negative repercussions on the safety and quality of life to all mankind.
因此,今天的我們做任何事,首先要為全體的他人著想。所謂全體,在家裡指的是整個家庭,在社會指的是整個社會,在國家指的是整個國家。全體受益的話,個人身居其中,必然受益。
Thus, every action that we take today should be based on the primary consideration for the good of all others. On a personal level, “all others” include the whole family, while on a higher level, they include everyone in our society, and even our entire nation. When everyone benefits, as a member of the community, we too will be taken care of.

🎥《心胸開朗,就不受環境局限》英文版
Open-mindedness frees us from external confinements
所謂的「心胸開朗」,應該可以分為兩個層次,第一種是眼界開闊、心胸廣大。
Open-mindedess has two levels. First it means having a wide perspective and an open mind.
至於心胸開朗的第二個層次,則是指超越全部的時空環境、超越所有的利害得失、超越一切的成敗是非,這種超越的觀念和心態,才是真正的開朗。
On the second level, open-mindedness means transcending all temporal and spatial boundaries, transcending all gains and losses, transcending all success and failure, right and wrong. This concept and mentality of transcendence represents open-mindedness in its true sense.
一個心胸開朗的人,對於所有的事情,都不會有「不得了」的想法,但是他能做到該努力的時候就努力、該迴避的就迴避、該處理的還是會去處理。
For an open-minded person, nothing will be so “desperately serious”. Nonetheless, he knows when to make an effort, when to pull back; he deals with things as necessary.
真的沒有辦法、處理不了的事情,就坦然面對,接受下來。
If there is nothing that can be done and it is obvious that something can’t be solved, then he will face the reality as it is and accept it calmly.
也就是說,遇到任何事情,都要面對它、接受它、處理它。如果當時的現實條件、環境因緣無法處理,也不要再掛心,就放下它吧!
All in all, when encountering any situation, we must face it, accept it, and deal with it. If the actual conditions and surrounding circumstances make it impossible to resolve a problem, then stop worrying about it and simply let it go.

如果經常是在緊張、憂愁、憤怒的狀態,或挖空心思、胡思亂想而又不知道自己在做什麼的人,臉上一定缺乏笑容,造成心理不健康,結果身體也不會健康。
If we are often in a stressed, depressed, and angry state of mind, draining our brain or engaging in discursive thoughts but without any idea what we are actually doing, then we’ll definitely have fewer smiles, thus compromising our mental and physical health.
我們應該要心中常常保持沒有需要煩惱的事,也就是頭腦裡沒有憂鬱、不滿意的事,因為世界上「不如意事十常八九」,既然已經知道,可能會有八、九成不如意的事出現,那還有什麼不如意的呢?
We should try to constantly free our mind from troubles and afflictions, by clearing our thoughts of all the depressing and unsatisfactory things. In this world, nine things out of ten do not meet our expectations. Since we know that as a reality, then what else can we possibly find “unsatisfactory”?
