Congratulations to the 2018 Taiwan Agricultural Trade Goodwill Mission on their successful visit to the United States this week! The Mission signed an intent to purchase up to an additional $360 million of U.S. soybeans this year and next. This amount, added to a renewal of a previous pledge, will amount roughly $1.5 billion of U.S. soybeans imports for 2018 and 2019. Eleven members of Congress greeted the Mission and attended the ceremony on Capitol Hill on September 27 to celebrate Taiwan’s strong support for rural America. We appreciate the special relationship that the Taiwan Vegetable Oil Manufacturers Association has with U.S. soybean farmers. Taiwan is known for its famous food culture and I am glad that the United States can contribute a safe and reliable supply of soybean oil and animal feed.
