剛剛在聽總統國際記者會時，對於一位BBC記者的問題感到驚訝:

Thank you very much, and congratulations first, President Tsai, on tonight’s result. A few months ago, you were struggling in the polls. Many people suggest that the turnaround in your fortunes is because of the actions of China. Its threats that you mentioned tonight. Its putting of the aircraft carriers through the Taiwan Strait, the situation in Hong Kong. So my question to you is this: Do you think you have the Chinese president Xi Jinping to thank for this victory.*

在當場大家都認識這位記者，因為直接稱呼他的名字，總統也對他的評語微笑。但是明顯這種發問的方式造成困擾，不然今天不會那麼多人有共鳴討論此事件。在同時也可以看到旁邊的外媒微笑搖頭，翻譯也高EQ地直接跳過這一句，因此這樣的幽默在這樣正式的場合並不是那麼恰當。

From the video, it's clear that the President and her staff know Mr. Sudworth on a first name basis. The interpreter most likely skipped the question to avoid controversy, and you can see an adjacent reporter shaking his head while smiling. Whether "humor" was appropriate for such a context is for you to decide.

在國際場合英文的使用不限制於一個區域的觀眾，並且這個「英式幽默的」問題並非只是一個無傷大雅朋友之間的玩笑，而是在測探回答者的智慧。個人覺得翻譯和總統的回應都非常專業，只是覺得發問者的問題格外犀利但或許這就是他的本意吧。

This discussion here extends beyond just language interpretation/translation and understanding word denotation and connotation. To dismiss criticisms as "not understanding humor" is simply ignoring the social, political, and cultural contexts in which language is used. The question was specifically framed to highlight China's influence and prod President Tsai for more insight. I personally find it to be caustic and not entirely suited for the topic: the democratic victory of the Taiwanese people. I regret not including this and more background information in the original post.

Some claim that the literal translation of 「道謝」by the press was improper. I am not a professional translator by any means, but a literal translation might be provided because it is immensely difficult to get across the full intent of the speaker with a few lines of text. Just the phrase "thank you" could be interpreted in diverse ways in discourse analysis. Interpretation and translation of speech require consideration of stress, body language, and social contexts. Hello Loves !
I just watched an animated movie called "Ethel and Ernest" and immediately fell in love with the art style 2minutes in. It 's very heartwarming. The soundtrack is beautiful, voice actors did a superb job, the audio director did a superb job in all the detailed background noises to make it as realistic as possible. This movie is based on the true story of British author and illustrator Raymond Briggs's parents, Ethel and Ernest, two ordinary Londoners. I suggest all of you to watch it if you 've got the time ! You won 't regret it !
Anyway, I really loved the scenery and the background illustrations. I decided to start with something more manageable for my skills. The original painter, who was also the Art Director for the movie, is Robin Shaw. Check out the other works he did for the movie in the link below !

それでは、意味を探っていきましょう！
①条件　1:17
現在形で使われます。
What should I do if ～？
What will you do if～？
のようにも使われます。
意味は是非本編で確認してくださいね！
学校英語ではshouldの部分も一緒に纏めて習いますし、短縮形があるという事はには触れないことが多いようです。
しかし、実際ネイティブの会話ではこれがぎゅっと短縮されて
what if～？
として使われます。
具体的な使い方としては2:34

ですね。お出かけの予定を立てる際なんかめちゃめちゃ使いますね。

Itinerary:
DAY 1
GANGNAM
-JYP (Cheongdam station (Line 7, Exit 9)
Cheongdam station (Line 7, Exit 9)
Walk down the road you are on for about 550 meters, until you get to the big crossroad.
Walk over the road onto the other side, then turn right and walk up the street for about 250 meters. You walk past two alleys turning up left, and by the third, you are going to turn and walk up that alley.
Walk up the road for 100 meters, until you reach the crossroad. On your right side, you will see JYP quite easy.

-SM
To go to SM, face JYP and then turn slightly to the right. There, the road splits in two. You have to walk up the left road. Walk straight ahead until you can turn left the second time(it's a crossroad where you can turn both left and right). Walk down that alley.
Walk just a few meters until you can turn up right. Walk up that road. Keep on walking for about 170 meters until you reach the end of the road, where there is a big park filled with trees. Turn left here.
Walk straight ahead for about 60 meters. You will soon see a big glass building that is the SM building.

DAY 2
-GANGNAM UNDERGROUND
Gangnam Station (Seoul Subway Line 2)

Take subway line 2 to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park station, and when you walk out of exit #14,you will see a line of enormous fashion malls to your left, including Hello apM, Migliore, Doota.

-Operating hours (within building):
Tues-Sun:10am-7pm
Wed, fri : until 9pm , closed on Monday.

DAY 3
-MYEONGDONG (frm personal experience 1 day of shopping is not enough!! recommend 2 days hahaha)
taking Seoul line number 4 to Myeongdong Station and getting out at exit 6.

-NAMSAN TOWER
700 meters of walk from EXIT 3 of Myeongdong Subway Station. Here is the direction:
Upon arriving at Myeongdong Station, from EXIT 3, go towards Hoehyeon Intersection which is about 300 meters away (slightly downhill direction). You will pass through EXIT 4 of Myeongdong Station on the way. Hoehyeon Intersection is a big junction. You won't miss it because you will see Shinsagae Department Store on your right. TURN LEFT at Hoehyeon Intersection. After turn left at this intersection, just go straight for another 300-400 meters and you will see the Namsan Oreumi Elevator, which looks like below. It is located before a toll collection station for highway. Just take the Namsan Oreumi Elevator to go straight to the Namsan Cable Car Station and take the cable car to N-Seoul Tower!
