Energy storage has been one of the main obstacles of renewable energy, especially due to the unstable availability of the power sources. Current solutions require a large amount of lithium-ion batteries that will not only store the energy, but also stabilize the voltage. One startup’s idea is instead to use a mechanical instead of chemical solution. Using a set of autonomous cranes to lift and lower bricks, the excess energy from the power plants can be conserved; making a continuous electricity generation possible.

#宜養陰防燥
寒露季節,代表開始步入深秋,古書記載:「九月節,露氣寒冷,將凝結也。」代表氣溫漸降,使空氣凝結成露珠,而且開始百花凋零,令人感到到秋季蕭瑟肅殺之意。寒露時節的養生重點為「養陰防燥」,當氣候變冷,人體陽氣收歛,陰精潛藏於內,所以要注意保養體內之陰精,一旦受到燥邪之氣侵犯,就會出現咽乾、鼻燥、皮膚乾燥等症狀。
古人云:「秋之燥,宜食麻以潤燥。」深秋宜多吃芝麻、糯米、粳米、雪梨、蘋果、杮子、蜂蜜、百合、蓮藕等滋潤食物,適時補充水份,注意足部保暖,睡前泡腳可以加快入眠。
溫馨提示:

・飲杯蜂蜜水潤肺養肺
・運動過後記得補充水份
・飲食清淡,辛辣食物會傷陰
・熬夜傷陰,養成早睡早起的習慣
Cold dew solar term
Cold dew signifies that we are well into fall. As temperature continues to drop, air may condensate and plants will begin to wither too. It is important to nourish yin and prevent dryness during this season. As it becomes cooler, yang qi will be conserved, yin energy need to be protected. Once attacked by dry pathogens, you may experience sore throat, dry nose and skin. It is suitable to have more sesame, glutinous rice, round grained rice, pears, apples, persimmon, honey, lily bulbs, and lotus root. Remember to replenish your fluids and keep your feet warm at night. It may be helpful to soak your feet before bedtime too.
Gentle reminders
- have dusk rice water which contains black sesame to moisten the intestine and relieve constipation
- have honey water to moisten and nourish the lungs
- remember to replenish fluids after exercising
- have lighter diets as spicy foods can damage yin
- staying up late can damage yin so try to sleep and wake up early

In a busy city like Singapore, there is no doubt we face traffic everyday. On the way to work, school, home - we spend so much time and fuel when we could be using it for better things. Cars stuck in jams increase vehicle emissions which pollute our air, affects our health and our environment. After I watched this video by UBER, I can imagine how polluted our air is due to congested roads, and how much gas we use up just by finding a parking lot. Besides this video quite clever how it depicted the absurdities of the city's traffic problems!
I would like to see more greens than cars in our city. I feel that if there were less cars on the road, more energy would be conserved and we can reduce air pollution. Also the spaces used for parking spaces can be converted into parks or spaces to plant trees to improve our wellness in general. It would be a first great step to making our city a greener place.
