The show is an experiment of intertwining sound, photography, video, and performance arts.
This project is a collaboration between Cheng Yi-Ping and 2 visual artists, Huang Zhen (team manager of O'PA and VJ of P.C.B) and Zito Tseng (ex-bioscientist, Yale dropout, freelance photographer).
People have been repressed to think about or explore the idea of sound, and hegemony uses music and sound as tools to enslave the people. Therefore, we will use the national anthem, which we were all trained to sing while we were children, as the text of our project:
1. LP record "National Anthems of the free world" published in 1945 played by a broken LP player.
2. National anthem announced by the government of Republic of China in 1937.
3. A new version of national anthem announced by the government of Republic of China in 2011.
4. National anthem with dirty English slang lyric.
5. National anthem sang by artist Yi-Ping Zheng in the Legislative Yuan during the 2014 Sunflower Student Movement.
