DELIVERY WORKERS

PM Lee: I am especially concerned about a specific group of lower-wage workers. These are delivery workers who work with online platforms like Foodpanda, Grab & Deliveroo. They lack the job protection that most employees have, like workplace injury compensation, union representation and employer CPF.

Besides delivery workers, there are also some lower-wage workers in other jobs who have an employee-like relationship with platforms. Such lower-wage workers will find it harder to afford housing, healthcare & eventually retirement. More people are taking up this type of work, so this problem is growing.

The Singapore Ministry of Manpower is studying it, and will be doing consultations. We must address the issues & give these workers more secure futures.

台灣夏天真的好熱，各地高溫動不動就30多度，幸運的能在室內吹冷氣，但常常在路上都會看到各行各業的人，在大太陽下工作，無論是裝卸貨人員，維修人員，或是發傳單 賣玉蘭花的阿伯等等，大家都辛苦了!
記得多喝水，定時休息，不然很容易就中暑甚至造成職業傷害喔!

根據勞保局統計，過去六年來，因為氣溫過高造成職業傷害，而請領職災給付的案例、共有12件，其中5件請領死亡給付，衛福部也統計，今年六月到現在，因熱傷害送急診、已經超過5百人次。
With high temperatures frequently over 30 degrees Celsius throughout the island during the summer, workers' safety may be endangered. According to the statistics, over the past six years, high temperatures have caused many occupational injuries. There were 12 cases of compensation applications for work-related injury, of which five were for occupational fatalities. Statistics also show that up to June this year, over 500 people sought emergency treatment for heat stroke.
