เกมที่เราจะได้ขึ้นยานบินออกไปรบ จะเล่นโหมด Single Player คนเดียวทำภารกิจไปเรื่อยๆ หรือ Multiplayers เล่นกับเพื่อนๆ ออนไลน์ไปสู้กับคนอื่นในโหมด แนวๆ Teamdeathmatch หรือ Battle Royals ก็ได้

นอกจากนี้ยังเข้าถึงการขับยานได้แบบสุดๆ เพราะเกมนี้เล่นกับ VR ได้จ้า เหมือนได้เข้าไปอยู่ยานรบอวกาศจริงๆ เลย (แอดแนะนำว่า VR เหมาะกับการเล่น Singleplayer แบบไปบินเล่นเฉยๆ เพื่อซึมซับความสวยของอวกาศ ไม่เหมาะกับการไปสู้กับเพื่อนเดี๋ยวจะปวดตาเอานะ)

Star Wars: Squadrons จะมีโหมดการเล่นสองส่วนคือ Singleplayer ที่ผู้เล่นจะได้เลือกว่าจะอยู่ฝ่ายไหนระหว่างจักรวรรดิและฝ่ายกบฎ ซึ่งทั้งสองฝ่ายจะมีเนื้อเรื่องที่น่าติดตามทั้งคู่

สำหรับยานที่มีให้เลือกนั้นจะมีอยู่หลายประเภท เช่น Fighter(Tie Fighter, X-Wing) จะมีความยืดหยุ่นสูง เหมาะกับทุกสถานการณ์ Interceptor(Tie Interceptor, A-Wing) ยานความเร็วสูงที่เหมาะกับการไล่จี้เป้าหมายแบบติด ๆ Support(Tie Reaper, U-Wing) กับความสามารถในการสนับสนุนเพื่อนร่วมทีมทั้งเติมกระสุนและซ่อมแซมยาน รวมไปถึงขัดขวางไม่ให้ยาน Fighter เล่นได้สะดวก และ Bomber(Tie Bomber, Y-Wing) ยานโจมตีที่มีพลังทำลายล้างสูงสุด
