プレイグ テイル -イノセンス-は，英仏百年戦争時代の1349年に「黒死病」として恐れられたペスト（Plague）が猛威を振るうフランスを舞台としたアクションアドベンチャーゲームだ。平和に暮らしていた主人公の少女・アミシアは，ある日突然，異端審問官から襲撃を受けて家族や家来は殺されてしまい，幼い弟ユーゴを連れてあてのない逃避行が始まる。
本作には16のチャプターが用意されており，アミシアは冒険を通して自分たちの周りで何が起こっているのかを知り，弟だけでなく周りの人々も助けることのできる戦士へと成長していく。

操作について：
本作では，迫る病や死の恐怖を「ネズミの大群」という形で描いており，火や明かりを嫌うネズミの習性を利用して，燃える松明を使って追い払ったり，遠くの明かりをスリングショットで消してネズミを向かわせたりといった，パズル的な要素も使いながら進めて行くことになる。
敵兵士と遭遇したときは，石などを投げて注意をそらしつつ，背後をコソコソ進んだり，物陰に身を隠しながら移動するなど，ステルス行動が必要になるという。また，道具や素材を拾い，それらを組み合わせることでスリングや装備を強化できるようだ。
