警方前年11月重兵圍堵理工大學，大批市民在附近區域試圖營救被困校園的抗爭者。其間一名畢業於理大的產品設計師在警方驅散時跌倒被捕，區域法院法官姚勳智裁定他兩項罪名成立。被告是理大產品工程及市場學學士學位甲級榮譽畢業生。

Official figures show a total of 10,260 people were arrested in the 2019 anti-extradition bill protests in Hong Kong. Up until April this year, more than a quarter have been prosecuted, with 750 charged with rioting, a crime that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail.
