A Lifelong Journey of Hearing
“Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not tiresome, but for you it is safe.” (Philippians 3:1 WEB)
Haven’t heard it before? Pay attention.
Heard it once? Hear again because you probably don’t understand it fully yet.
Heard it many times before? We tend to forget, and this is evidenced by times when we don’t apply what we have learnt before.
Just keep hearing and hearing because God is always speaking. We need a fresh word in season—the rhema word.
When you hear it, a truth that jumps out at you and arrests your attention, grab hold of it and apply the word. It is pregnant with power. When you believe and confess it, power is released into that related area of your life.
Things happen at God’s appointed timings, and He has specific truths that He emphasizes at different times.
Learn to flow with Him instead of relying on your mind. Leave behind what you think you know, and be attentive to what new things He wants to do in this season. Tap on the fresh grace that is available.
The truth about God’s system of times and seasons is profound and so important. Not understanding this is the reason for many disappointments and bitterness. Learn to go along with this unchangeable system and you will enjoy fruitfulness in every season of life. Get “God’s Appointed Time” here: https://bit.ly/god-appointed-time

If you attach your happiness to something temporal or subject to change, you will have emotionally happy and sad times, fluctuating based on circumstances.
Even in good times, to attach your happiness to the good things happening is—can I say, not wise.
Tie your happiness to the rock who is Jesus Christ. “I am happy because Jesus is my Lord. He overpaid my sin debt by dying at the cross, and made me the righteousness of God in Him. I have eternal life and nothing can separate me from God’s love!”
This kind of mindset is how the apostle Paul could rejoice greatly even when in prison, from which he wrote the epistle to the Philippians. He rejoiced in the Lord.
Not all things that happen to you are good, but God is always good! When you are secure in His love, you know that He will cause everything to work together for your good. Start to get excited and rejoice!
Keep studying God’s word and growing in your understanding of His ways. Our Patreon community is currently on a Bible study series called “My Faith Declarations” which looks at the Spirit-inspired utterances of the authors of the Psalms. They wrote about the trials and tribulations they experienced, so the book of Psalms is very relatable.
By turning their faith declarations into our own, we can learn how to overcome similar circumstances in life through faith in the Lord! “Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I will say, “Rejoice!” Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:4-7 WEB)
The apostle Paul wrote the words above when he was in prison for nothing but preaching the Gospel. He had a reason to be angry, but he chose to rejoice!
You don’t have to rejoice in your circumstance. The thing that happened to you may not be good, but you can always rejoice “in the Lord”—no one can take that away from you.
Treasure the “peace of God”. Nothing is worth trading this peace for. It is the peace of God that allows you to sleep sweetly at night, and to rejoice even when circumstances look bad.
Only born-again believers have this peace. The world cannot buy it. No matter what you’re going through, wait for God happily! You cannot change the fact that you must wait, but you can choose which attitude to adopt. I’m not going to waste this precious time that the Lord has blessed me with—I’ll rejoice and be happy right now!
