北義神秘彩虹湖 A mysterious rainbow lake in north Italy

Aside from the magnificent sceneries of the Alps, the mountains also have many mysterious folks stories.
從前在這個湖裡住著一條絕美的美人魚。有位巫師為了一睹風采，在這湖邊守候美人魚的出現。一位朋友跟他說美人魚喜歡彩色的東西，建議巫師假扮珠寶商帶著七彩寶石和一彎彩虹前往湖邊就可以吸引美人魚出現。
A long long time ago, a mermaid with breath-taking beauty lived in the lake. In order to see her beauty, a wizard sat by the lake hoping to see the mermaid. A friend of the wizard told him to go back in a jewelry merchant outfit with a bar of rainbow and some gems, because the mermaid was very fond of colorful things.
美人魚看到了七彩的珠寶開始心動，也被彩虹給吸引漸漸浮上水面。就在浮出水面前，人魚識破了巫師意圖，因為巫師忘了穿上珠寶商的衣服。美人魚受到驚嚇潛回水中便再也不出現了。巫師一氣之下奮力將珠寶和彩虹擲入湖中。後來湖水便染上了七彩琉璃光輝。
When the mermaid saw the jewelry and the bar of rainbow, she started to be drawn towards the colorful things. Right before the mermaid surfaced, she saw that the wizard was not in the jewelry dealer outfit and then quickly disappeared in the lake. The wizard was so mad that he throw the jewelry together with the rainbow into the lake. That is the origin of the lake's name in local language.
有趣小知識：
夏日的彩虹湖水深17米。10月份僅5公尺深。因為水質清澈少水藻，所以能透視17米湖底。湖邊杉樹木質優良，常用來製作樂器的琴身。需塗上樹脂風乾五年。
Interesting facts:
The lake becomes 17 meters deep in the summer but only 5 meters deep in winter. Because of the high quality of the water with very low algae level, one can see the bottom of the lake even in the summer. The spruce trees nearby are of high quality as well. The wood of the spruce trees is often used to make acoustic musical instruments. However, the wood would be placed in an airy place for 5 years and treated with resin applied on the surface to prevent the wood from splitting.
