Truly a pleasure talking to ESM Goh Chok Tong (MParader) , 2nd Prime Minister of Singapore.

He told me the last time he came down to Muar was in the 1950s when there were no bridges & he had to take a ferry to cross the river.

I told ESM that now we have 2 bridges & that the FOOD like our Asam Pedas Muo, Satay Pagi & Mee Bandung Muo have only gotten better.

Before borders closed due to COVID, many Singaporeans would drive down to my constituency for the food, heritage & culture. Can't wait for that to happen again.

I told ESM that my father used to take me to watch the national day parade & i used to see him from afar then. "Who's this tall man😆".
(p/s he is still as tall, sharp & witty)

As a Johorean, I would also get free access to MediaCorp channels like Channel 5 & Suria so i'd always see him speak when i was a kid.

Malaysians & Singaporeans are always stronger together.

A shared history, a shared culture & shared future.

Our relationship should never just be based on convenience, instead it should be based on Mutual trust & respect.

We are one big family afterall.

I look forward to hosting ESM Mr Goh & many other Singaporeans in my constituency Muar once border reopens!

Love him or hate him ... he has used his social media celebrity status to achieve his target.

Put aside the fact that the divide between the rich and poor [ those with access to e-learning resources versus none at all] still exists and education is still not deemed as paramount in priority as much as we wish it to be.

But back to Yang Botak Syed Saddiq. Thank you Sir.

As the prospect of a state of emergency and the suspension of Parliament looms, several opposition figures have offered Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin an alternative.

Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman got the ball rolling yesterday by proposing a "confidence-and-supply" arrangement.

In the Westminster system, a confidence-and-supply agreement is one whereby a party or lawmakers agrees to support the government on motions of confidence or supply (budget) bills, as opposed to a coalition arrangement where all member MPs are expected to vote in favour of the government on every bill.

While there are no examples of this in Malaysia, Syed Saddiq said such arrangements were seen in 1977 when the UK Labour Party formed such a pact with the Liberal Party and in 2017, when the Labour Party-New Zealand First coalition formed a pact with the Green Party.

Syed Saddiq's condition for such an arrangement was that no general elections should be held until the Covid-19 situation stabilises in a year or two, with the opposition still playing their role.

Secondly, he proposed equal constituency allocations for all MPs, thus removing the need for defections.

Lastly, Syed Saddiq called for bipartisan committees in the passing of important bills.
