[#辭海拾趣] "Ge-la-to! Ge-la-to! Don't we all LOVE the way these wacky yellow dwarfs repeat one another? And did you know that the word "minions" actually means faceless (and often spineless) people whose only role is to be a yes-man to their superior? 我地可能都覺得 Minions 好鬼盞鬼。你又知唔知道 Minions 呢個字本身有奴才嘅意思呢？Minions 又會令你諗起咩字？可能你會諗起 "Yes-man" (對人唯命是從嘅人)，可能你會諗起 silly（傻傻的），obey（服從），ignorant（無知），naive（天真）。
因為 Minions 成日重複其他 Minions 嘅說話同動作，其中一個 Minions 我諗起嘅字就係從眾 － conform 喇！Conform 嘅意思就係從眾，或遵從（既有標準）嘅意思。呢個字唔一定係貶義詞但常帶有貶義的 connotations（含義）。我們畢竟是一個尊崇獨特性的社會嘛！
Usage 方面，conform 呢個字經常同 to 呢個 preposition（介系詞）一齊使用。"conform to peer pressure", "conform to social norms", "conform to regulations", etc. 既然同 preposition 一齊用，就梗係…VI － intransitive verb（不及物動詞）啦！我試作左兩個例句：
例句一：History tells us that whoever that are in power often have a great number of minions at their command. 歷史告訴我們，誰得勢誰手下就有一班對他們唯命是從的奴才。
例句二：It is hard to have hopes for young people who know only to conform to social norms. After all, youth is the best time for us to venture into new worlds and blaze our own trails. 我們實在很難對只懂循規蹈矩、甘於囿於社會規範的年輕人抱有什麼希望。畢竟，年輕人最有本錢無畏的闖出一片天，走出自己的路。
