Receive an Abundance of Good Things
““Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. Or who is there among you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:7-11 WEB)
Is what you’re asking for a “good thing”? If it’s not, you won’t receive it, because Abba God wants you to have good things. He doesn’t want to see you wasting time and struggling when you settle for less.
Sometimes we ask for things that we think are good for us, but they actually lead to death in some form (Proverbs 14:12). This comes from our limited knowledge—we don’t know the future.
We don’t know what’s the best thing for us at any given moment—but God knows.
When you pray, don’t be too specific. Give some room for Abba God to give you His best.
For example, if you’re praying for a job, don’t be so rigidly fixed on asking for a specific position at a specific company.
You could pray something like this: “Dear Abba God, I know You want me to have the best position where I can have good income, a healthy work-life balance and opportunities to glorify You in the workplace. I receive Your best choice for me. Through the Holy Spirit, line up the people who can give me this position and grant me favor with them. Empower me with Your grace to produce excellent work at this position I’m receiving. Thank You Abba for always loving me and hearing my prayers. In Jesus’ name I ask, Amen!”
The passage above is given to us so that we can be confident that whenever we keep asking for good things, we will surely receive them.
It’s interesting that Jesus used the analogy of “bread” and “fish” because that’s exactly the two types of food that He miraculously multiplied for the multitudes.
So Jesus proved that Abba God was not just saying that He’s a good Father, but He proved Himself as a good Father who provides good things in abundance!!
When you ask for good things, get ready to receive much more than you can think or imagine!
